How do you beat a LD deck in french?

So, there has been a guy running Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund at every venue that supports french. His decks objective is T1 mana dork, t2 land destruction, t3, land destruction. when you are grasping for lands, he is ramping up to 10+ mana, to just cast his general. I have played against this deck before, and it's downright oppressive, (can't really cast cards of any type without lands) he may also just play Wasteland as his first land, just to screw you. How do you beat a deck like that? Suggestions, tips? Has any one else had this problem?

Ramp yourself. If you can manage to land a rock or weenie yourself, things should get easier. If he's destroying and ramping non-stop, he's not drawing extra cards. You have more lands than he has LD in his deck, no doubt.

Terra Eternal and Life from the Loam are other options. So is Privileged Position. But you do need lands. At the end of the day, if you can't get any lands out, you can't really do much. Mana dorks and stuff like Simian Spirit Guide are options, but not good ones.

Such is the reason land destruction is so frowned upon in most EDH playgroups.

Yeah, it's ridiculous that he is placing first in so many events just because his deck is land_hate.deq. it's a shame sol ring is banned lol

Gaddock Teeg? would help with most of the LD spells.

What deck do you use against him?

Run Azusa, Lost but Seeking? I might just have to agree with Azuleblood. Or, at the very least, some new people to play with. That seems like the deck you use once, just to show you can, then never to be seen again. Until someone starts throwing their own deck like that out there.

I agree with casey. If you can afford it, build Azusa and wreck him. Make sure to cut or shuffle their deck so to ensure they're not cheating to hit a Strip Mine ect turn 1-3.

It would really help to know what deck you're playing. If you don't have one in particular, I'd recommend hyper-aggressive strategies or aggro-control. In particular, Thalia, Geist, and Jenara are all resilient to LD due to low curves, disruption, and being fast. Sidisi tends to stomp on anything remotely resembling a fair deck. Skullbriar lets you play at his own game. 5c reanimator is one of the better decks in the format, and needs very little mana to go off. (Even with the banning)

I was playing abzan reanimator, which I will admit was not a good deck. But this guy is getting 1st at multiple events, every week.

I might build azusa, or maybe I will just go hyper aggro thalia. lol

What type of early land destruction is he getting? It seems odd he is consistently shutting people out the first three turns.

Counter shuffle him? Something tells me he stops doing it to you.

I have a Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund LD deck in my meta that can be a tremendous pain to deal with. I have found that I do best with my mono color decks. If the majority of your land's are basic, there are less suitable targets. My Griselbrand deck (shameless plug, GriselWhat? (Duel Commander)) runs tons of discard, 27 basics and lots of rocks.

Would cheap mana rocks help? Or would that use essential spell slots. Lowering your curve and adding mana dorks could work in theory, but it's shooting yourself in the foot when you play other decks like ramp or control.

Titania, Protector of Argoth laughs at LD decks... I run her as my main commander deck and win most of my games quite frequently. The deck is usually too quick for people to deal with.
