Beside Scion of the ur-dragon, what is the best Archetype+commander for a dragon deck?

Bladewing the Risen is also pretty good for some reanimation.

I run Zirilan of the Claw and it is an excellent toolbox deck.

The archetype is dragons. It plays out like this, play dragons, beat face, win game.
If you're really committed to the 5 color idea, Progenitus can be sweet, otherwise any other general that gives you your colors works.

I recently built a Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund dragon deck that simply beats face. It's got a little reanimation/graveyard thing going on as well. But Jund with Karrthus will probably be your best bet, unless you want to join the cool kids, then Zirilan of the Claw, which is what I played before Karrthus.

Teneb, the Harvester has a good combination of colors and a sweet ability, especially when comboed with Strionic Resonator and a black mill strategy.
Prossh, Skyraider of Kher is another good one. "Removing my commander isn't the best solution."

I personally disagree with your choice of Teneb. Red just happens to be the dragon king, and while Jund might not always be the choice for dragon decks, Jund is also the king of dragons.

kameenookThis is very true, especially if you're making dragon tribal or a deck which has dragon tribal as one of it's components. In which case red kinda has to be your primary color. There are enough dragons in those colors to support a deck in Teneb's colors, though--Yosei, the Morning Star, Shieldhide Dragon and Dromoka, the Eternal, for instance, and those are just some of the better ones.
It's just that even though Prossh has the correct colors, I go "meh" because there's very little you can do with Kobolds specifically, and therefore there are better ways to get tokens. When I see Teneb's ability to fish a creature out of any graveyard when hitting any player, I go "awesome." I would gladly build a deck in the "wrong" colors for a dragon deck if I could still make a functional deck in them and it meant getting access to a better commander ability.

thanks for the ideas guys! i finally picked Surrak Dragonclaw as a commander and made a sweet UGR deck... just need a few cards to make it unfair, but its looks pretty neat.

Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund gives access to nice identity and Zirilan of the Claw lets you get a bunch of your best things out easily.
