Commander suggestions for a Timmy-type.

Commander (EDH) forum

I've been trying commander for about two years now, and I've tried my hand at several commanders with mixed results. Some were poor match, some just seemed to sync up with my play style.

I recently built a Gahiji, Honored One deck that centered on tokens, and honestly it has some people flat out afraid of me.

Now, I am looking at building another deck. The question is, who do I build? I know some commanders (primarily control) just don't work for my play style.I was taking about this with one of the guys I play, and he summed it up when he said I am a Timmy player; a "hyper Timmy" as he called it. Now, I am looking for commanders that work around that mentality.

I am open for color type combinations, but I do have an affinity for green and white. Any suggestions?

Karametra, God of Harvests lets you play creatures and ramp super hard to play lots of big hydras and such.

Gaddock Teeg hates on all of the control players and lets you do your Timmy things undisturbed.

Multani, Maro-Sorcerer gets super huge with multiplayer, and he fits with any good green strategy you want.

Kaalia of the Vast, Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund, Mayael the Anima (if you don't mind building naya again.)

All fun, all Timmy, all the time.

I was going to suggest Kaalia of the Vast but she's not green.

Omnath, Locus of Mana is pretty fun.

Omnath, Locus of Mana Is pretty Timmy. In a generate metric tons of mana, make omnath huge (one shot commander damage kill huge), beat face. Take advantage of said huge pool of mana to push people around with Eldrazi or mono green fatties.

I love me some Doran, the Siege Tower, he's super fun and powerful in a way that makes the rest of table re-evaluate how their creatures play out in combat.

If you like casting insane things for free, Red/Blue/Green is a very powerful combination, with both Maelstrom Wanderer and Intet, the Dreamer fueling crazy stuff and being lots of fun :)

If you're looking to build really straight forward, putting down creatures like no other type deck, then I'd suggest Karametra, God of Harvests, Gaddock Teeg, Karador, Ghost Chieftan, Mayael the Anima or Animar, Soul of Elements all of which could really boost creatures easily and bring them out quickly.

If you're looking for a really interesting build, such as a tribal deck, there's quite a few others. For example; Kangee, Aerie Keeper for a WU tribal and you can put Dovescape in there to piss everyone off. Or a UR deck with Jhoira of the Ghitu for really cheap creatures and spells. Or, a very funny burn type build with heavy creature play would be a Rakdos, Lord of Riots deck.

I'll second the Maelstrom Wanderer suggestion.

Also, Scion of the Ur-Dragon, if dragons are something you're into. Sliver Overlord and friends are also a very solid timmy strategy, though maybe not for a "hyper timmy".

Sensuna do you happen to have a list to that token build? I've been trying to build a more competitive token EDH deck for awhile now and have had little success with finding one both fun and consistently strong.

Xenagos, God of Revels is a fun Power Gamer Timmy (as opposed to one of the other 3 types laid out here) Commander. He allows you to put out big creatures and be swinging for giant damage by turn 4 consistently and as early as turn 3 with a nuts draw.

Honestly Riku of the two reflections would be awesome for a Timmy.

I agree with Gidgetimer, Xenagos, God of Revels is awesome as a Timmy commander.

Another type of commander for Timmies to consider is a commander that allows (read: forces others to allow) you to play your big guns, like the aforementioned Gaddock Teeg or Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. They do put a target on your head though.

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa is really fun. My personal favorite is going for a timmy/toolbox approach with Yisan, the Wanderer Bard

if you love doing weird timmy stuff...then going superfriends is very fun especially when you dont want solid infinite combos. You can see my deck superfriends with love if you need an example of what I even said.

SInce rocklee asked, here is my current build. As always, it is a work in progress...

Woo! Gahiji, Honored One! I also recently built a deck around him. It's pretty damn sweet, even though I prefer control typically.

The timmy-est deck I've ever seen was technically a Sliver Overlord deck, but any 5 color commander would work. It was simply loaded with planeswalkers of all varieties. It had, like, 37 planeswalkers in all in the deck.
