I believe they are asking for a separate forum for Budget Commander. Don't quote me on that though. There is already a Budget tag for decks so one can only assume.

We already have a budget tag. Plus budget is tricky.

z2aaa What constitutes "budget" play varies widely. For some it's $20-$50 decks, for other it's anything under $300. Quantifying budget play is a very case by case basis.

This is true, because one person's budget usually differs from another. Most people think budget means cheap though, when it could just mean 'everything good except ABUR Duala, Mana Crypt, and LED'.

On a different note, if you (the OP or anyone reading I guess) are searching for budget (cheap) decks with a price in mind you could always use the deck search option at the top of the page and plug in your numbers and/or a commander you have in mind.

Massacar, it seems to me that if a brewer call his or her deck budget, and others agree, then it is. There’s no need to quantify it :)

0rc: just because a lotta people agree, doesn't make a thing true lol.

0rc my entire point is that "budget" is extremely subjective. A playgroup of millionaires could consider any deck below $1000 dollars and all agree on it, but that wouldn't make that budget for the majority of us.

Generally speaking (depending on context such as cEDH etc) budget can be anywhere from $20 to several hundred dollars for a lot of people, and that is an extremely wide range in terms of accessibility.

Tony Stark: Of course it does! Just ask Copernicus :)

Massacar: I don’t disagree. So, brewers should put “Budget $x” in their descriptions so everyone is on the same page. Problem solved :)

$500ish is generally the range of "budget" for cEDH, but yeah it is very subjective across the board. What is budget for me (a veteran player with years of accumulated cards and an income of my own) is very different than the budget of some teenager who is just starting out for example.

GhostChieftain and DeinoStinkus, I started off building optimized high-power and competitive $$$$ decks and now I build mostly budget and jank because it’s just fun. The games are more memorable and accessible to more players. (I’d be lying if I said I don’t still buy and collect $$$$ cards.) :)

DeinoStinkus, “cheating” is such a strong word! I prefer the the word “clever” :)

DeinoStinkus: if you have multiple decks that share colors, you likely will end up buying those cards again.

I love setting the limiter of a budget to try and get creative with picks. I basically started this account so I could have an excuse to brew budget decks.

I think budget decks are a Great way to test out a deck before investing top dollar into it. But yeah my form of budget is 25-100 where I have some friends that their budget is 250+ so it would be tough to really pinpoint the topic. Though the forum could just be called budget and could say something like "Discussions about decks at under $$$" but good luck moderating that. Can you imagine being banned for even Suggesting someone use a Craterhoof Behemoth or a Mana Crypt? haha
