Browbeat?

I went digging up Sudden Demise, and I found it, Ghitu Fire, which is the only card to be added, and Browbeat.
Now, I look at Browbeat and think "Hmmm...40 life is high enough. They'll take the 5." As much as I want a source of card draw, being in mono-red and all, but I'm concerned that I'm only going to Lava Axe someone, which is ok but I still would much prefer card draw that's guaranteed.
Any reason why I must run the card? What are your thoughts on Browbeat in the format as a whole?

NecroPony: True but we are talking about mono-red here. I'm just wanting to know if it's worth it there or not.

No it's terrible. Particularly because it says "any player". The life gain dude can just take the damage and not even care.

More or less. I already have some but I can always do with more in red. I'm fine as far as artifact choices are concerned.

Some options would include:
Aggressive Mining, Dragon Mage, Knollspine Dragon, Slate of Ancestry, Staff of Nin, Mind's Eye, Wheel of Fate, Wheel of Fortune, Reforge the Soul
The options where you have to discard are obviously best played when you only have few cards left in hand. They're also really disruptive to opponents playing combo decks.

MagicalHacker: I already have most of the red cards there but I'll look into Act on Impulse. It's a fitting card for me, after all.

Cool, let me know if it pans out, as I'm interested to see if Act on Impulse is worth recommending. My gut says it will be good, but my brain still needs convincing one way or the other.

I can also run Commune with Lava, which is similar. I think it will be good (just so as long as I don't drop a land before playing it).

The card if just a 5 points to the face most of the time. Not good in EDH.
