Best extra turn commander?

Commander (EDH) forum

Okay so I love the idea of extra turns and want to make a deck on it. EDH of course! Of course there's Medomai the Ageless, but Id prefer black in the deck. please suggest anything; I play casually and often illegal cards!

Oh and the commander doesn't need to have an extra turn ability. Just fits in the deck

The ones that come to mind for me are Riku of Two Reflections and Melek, Izzet Paragon. Both have blue so you would just have lots of extra turn cards and then copy them with your commander's ability, but really any blue controlly commander could work well with extra turn cards.

Melek, Izzet Paragon. I think that this is a pimpin' example of what he can unlock.

I'm shooting for extra turns in my Narset, Enlightened Master deck

A lot of deck manipulation. Thassa, God of the Sea, Keranos, God of Storms, and Iroas, God of Victory are the only other creatures in the deck.

Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge seems like it could be another extra turn commander. I had a buddy make a deck around her that was real solid

Best deck I've had around extra turns was Intet, the Dreamer. Heavy top deck manipulation+light control+ramp+haste. Intet comes down. Mystical Tutor a Time Stretch and cheat it into play. The deck then uses heavy recursion to basically chain turns together. This ends up in 30+ extra turns where intet kills you with commander damage. My playergroup banned it because it tool so long.

Oona, Queen of the Fae is nice for this. She gives you something to do on the extra turns by creating a fairy army and UB is so powerful

Another option I'd suggest would be Merfolk Tribal with Sygg, River Guide because he allows for Wanderwine Prophets to be hardcore playable.

With black really your only option is Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge.

awesomeguy37, how can you defend thatvstatement? Extra turns require blue with the exception of Temporal Extortion. Black being a preferred color means just about any UB(x) commander will work. Jeleva is a narrow, niche commander, not the only choice.

I like Narset, Enlightened Master. Do you like casting spells for free? Then you'll like casting four spells for free. So this is what you do, you cast Omniscience and then Enter the Infinite, then you cast Past in Flames and play your entire library twice and Grapeshot your opponent for 200. Oh, and while you are doing this you can pack a bunch of "Take an Extra Turn" cards into your deck and cast them for free. ((Pssst, A+ to you if you got the reference))

@Dalektable
All hail the Cammander!

@capriom85 she lets you cast Time Stretch effects for free with her ability and is in the 3 best colors for extra turns (Ral Zarek and Temporal Extortion = URB = Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge)

In an extra turn focused deck, she is the best as she lets you cast them for free and they can be expensive. Maybe I was exaggerating when I said she was the ONLY one, but she is the best.

I played Jeleva...she is great. She is niche. I played Azami, Lady of Scrolls, she is also incredible at this and is also pretty niche. I play Oona now...infinitely better than both at extra turns AND utilizing them. Jeleva doesn't do much with extra turns...she shines with Runechanter's Pike and extra combats. Azami shines with Mind Over Matter type non interactive win cons. Oona suits duel or multiplayer and gives you access to everyrhing you need. So does Sygg.

Thanks all for the ideas! I think I'll either choose Melek, Izzet Paragon (for his(hers? haha) 4 toughnesss (for burn spells), more reassurance than Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge. Or Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge for her more general and quicker use than Narset, Enlightened Master. But thanks all again! I wasn't even aware of most of these!

you can also have the supposedly infinite turn combo with Basalt Monolith, Power Artifact, The Chain Veil, and Ral Zarek for (supposedly) infinite turns with infinite planeswalker abilities with ral's +1 then ult him once each turn for hopefully at least one extra turn to go off.

Kruphix, God of Horizons has a really easy time playing extra turn spells.
