Best Black, Green, and Golgari EDH Commanders That Don't Require Super Expensive Decks

I have made my first (Krenko, Mob Boss ) and am currently making my second EDH deck, Grand Arbiter Augustin IV , and want to start making a Black or Green (or B/G) one so I don't have to get duplicates of many cards. I started an Azusa, Lost but Seeking deck, but it costs over 1,000 dollars, and I'm on a (not super-strict, but nonetheless) budget. Any suggestions?

Um. Green, budget-friendly commanders...

Omnath, Locus of Mana , a bunch of basic land search guys, and things that give trample can be pretty cheap.

Ezuri, Renegade Leader elf tribal is a thing. It's probably cheaper than 1000 dollars, at least.

In a similar vein, Balthor the Defiled zombie tribal can wreck some face.

Ob Nixilis, the Fallen and 99 Swamps. You know you want to.

Horobi, Death's Wail can make for some shenanigans.

Maralen of the Mornsong , Exsanguinate , Skirge Familiar , and Ad Nauseam . And a bunch of Swamps. You know you want to.

I've seen Nath of the Gilt-Leaf do broken things.

Skullbriar, the Walking Grave can get big fast.Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer gets bigger the more forests you have so you just tutor for lands and basically be done with it lolGlissa, the Traitor is fun and you even have Glissa Sunseeker . Ashling, the Extinguisher is almost 4 bucks, but she seems fun. Chainer, Dementia Master you can steal from opponents graves, Dosan the Falling Leaf is like Rule of Law . Silvos, Rogue Elemental 6 drop for a 8/5 with regen seems goodi feel like you could do something evil with Jolrael, Empress of Beasts Spirit of the Night could be a decent voltronStabwhisker the Odious with Black Vise , Cursed Rack , The Rack , Gnat Miser , Locust Miser Yeva, Nature's Herald

You don't actually need to spend $1000 on an Azusa, Lost but Seeking deck to make it good. I think you are looking at really competitive decks. My mostly budget competitive Azusa deck is well under that cost Azusa's Land Maze.

If you are looking for another suggestion for another fun cheap commander, I suggest Savra, Queen of the Golgari .

Basically what you can do if you are trying to build a deck on a budget is take a look through my list of budget staples for the format. The Best of Budget Commander/EDH

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord has some pretty fun interactions with dredging and reanimator abilities. he has a few cheap infinite combos going for him.

If you want some really good black removal for under a buck, try Xathrid Gorgon . Her benefits are threefold:

(1) She shuts down any general that relies on attacking or using an activated ability. The fact that she does this without sending them back to the command zone is HUGE. It's like a repeatable Arrest in black, which is pretty unusual.

(2) She has deathtouch and a high toughness. If your opponent wants to attack with any kind of non-evasive creature, they'll have to think twice about it. Worst case scenario she gets hit with a kill spell before she gets to block, but hey, you just forced card parity.

(3) She keeps things fun and fair. If you're a highly competitive player maybe this isn't as important to you. I kind of think of her as a black Proteus Staff : a repeatable way to deal with threats, but your opponent still gets something out of their creature. In my experience that usually leads to better gameplay and a lot fewer "feel bad" moments than Avatar of Woe or Royal Assassin ever do.
