Are you playing a cEDH commander?

It's no secret that some commanders are simply more powerful than others. If you are playing these commanders, then it's no secret that your opponents are gonna be sending more attackers & spot removal your way. Hope that this THREAD helps you!

...I don't get it. I play Thrasios + Tymna. What am I supposed to find helpful?

So you posted a link to a list-icle you wrote on the twitter account with your patreon. It's gonna be a "no" from me, dog.

Commander tier list is pretty much gospel for what you are trying to say. Not that it is a bad thing to do your own, but this pretty much says all that needs said on the topic and gets updated after each release.

ToolmasterOfBrainerd, well the list can be used in a variety of ways. Wanna make sure your next commander isn't going to be overtargeted by opponents? Here's a list of commanders to avoid. Wanna make games more appropriately matched? You should probably not mix up commanders on this list against commanders not on this list. Wanna see if commanders have been getting power creep more than regular cards? I think that the list can show that it is the case.

dingusdingo, the patreon isn't really related to my tweets, but it's just a way for people to be able to have a video of me playing their deck in one of the videos that I send to EDHREC to put on their site.

GhostChieftain, that's a good link! A couple of people sent me that one too, but it doesn't really delineate between "these are played in cEDH" and "these are not played in cEDH" as well as I would like. Also, some of the inclusions are a bit of a head scratcher to me, like how Aminatou (commander of a consultation list that employs opus thief elements) is at the same level as Xira Arien. Another example is the fact that Kraum and Vial Smasher are on the list when they are clearly only their due to the stronger partner of Thrasios or Tymna. To me, Thrasios and Tymna are high on the list, but they don't make other partners better as cards. Regardless, the ideas mostly translate over with about 15 differences if my math is right.

Sure, this concept kind of holds for the first game you play. But after that and when people can gauge your deck's level by actually seeing your deck, the amount of hate should die down. Plus talking to players about this pre-game can make a huge difference.

Unless of course you come across the kind of arsehole who unnecessarily focuses a player for no reason and when someone calls them out on it cries out "REEEEEEEEEEEE" and doubles down on therir strategy. But those people should promptly be taken out back and beaten.

Vial smasher is the important commander in curious control decks because you jam a curiosity effect on that bad boy and just keep drawing. Ill concede that kraum is only there because of tymna. As far as the level 3 commanders, they are the most contentious part of that list because many of them can function in a cEDH meta. I think aminatou is just on the edge of being considered competitive but as of yet is just too fringe. The 0/1/2 lists are the competitive commanders, 3 can be seen because they are high powered but aren't usually, and anything else is not cEDH unless someone is memeing

So, there are more variables to commander and cedh than just the commanders themselves. There's the other decks at the table, theres the players' individual skill and experience and the card choices in the 99. Now, urza and partner decks are very hard to make bad; most already do everything cedh wants to be doing. Providing advantage or a nice hefty utility but so many times I've seen people insert pet cards or just make poor threat assessment and lose from a winning position. I sniped so many games with an edric deck because Cursed Totem or Null Rod was always jammed t1 or 2. (yes edric is relatively competitive but somewhat forgotten, just like momir)
