An odd question

Commander (EDH) forum

Posted on July 31, 2015, 9:33 a.m. by CuteSnail

Which EDH general benefits most from turn 1 Hall of the Bandit Lord and then turn 2 Mana Vault, assuming the land on turn 2 was a Command Tower?

Basically, I'm trying to figure out which general benefits most from haste and being dropped 2+ turns earlier than expected. Colour combo doesn't matter, but turn 3 hastey works better in less than 3 colors.

The idea stems from say, t1 island, mana vault. T2 Swamp, tappout, Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker ect.

Mana vault accels to much. I'm trying to find the optimal general for that. Plus Haste is cool.

Narset, Enlightened Master tends to win games with a single attack, maybe try her?

Shisato, Whispering Hunter would be the only think that comes to my mind.

Erebos, God of the Dead. Turn 2 semi-permanent anti-lifegain can cripple some decks.

getting Purphoros, God of the Forge on turn 2 is VERY good. So is Arcum Dagsson (plus Ornithopter), Rosheen Meanderer. It needs to be a 4 mana general that has a single colored mana its cost and have a reason to be hasted out.

Well if it's a two color with 5 mana cost it's still possible.

Add in the number of generals who would appropriately have a great enter the battlefield ability involving damage, lifeloss, etc. or some really busted damage dealing ability.

Why is Mana Vault better than Mana Crypt?

But in reality, haste only really helps voltron commanders, commanders that trigger when attacking, or commanders with a ability.

Of those types of commanders, the only one that stands out as being particularly oppressive on turn two is Arcum Dagsson, but he also requires a Memnite to do anything on turn two anyways.

Just as a side note, I'm sure you know this, but building a deck for the "god hand" rarely are successful. However, building a deck and then making changes to make it more oppressive (which also improves the "god hand") is usually the right way to do things.

Dragonlord Ojutai gets you a big advantage

Urabrask the Hidden for forever haste

Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker is an awesome idea

Kruphix, God of Horizons for no max hand size and lots of mana

Anowon, the Ruin Sage just to be a jerk sooner

Karn, Silver Golem to a lesser extent

Xenagos, God of Revels would be mean that early

Just some ideas...

I don't think 3 color even works with this. You'll get the one color from Command Tower, but the rest is ll colorless. Hell you'd have to do something weird to even make it 2 color I think.

T1 hall

T2 CMD tower, mana vault

T3 basic of choice, 6 drop of 2 colors. It has haste.

I meant as a 2 drop. 3 drop is possible if you give it another turn. Could do 3 color turn 3 if you us the right mana rock.

Idk, Kaalia turn three with haste is pretty OP

Kaalia is already pretty op...I was thinking Godo, Bandit Warlord turn 3, swing 6 is pretty good.

T1 Tree of Tales, Mana Vault, Sol Ring for one of the mana, then Unwinding Clock with the other and the from the Sol Ring. All shit untaps at your opponents next step.

T2 Vault of Whispers, Exploration, Seat of the Synod, Vedalken Orrery

On your opponents turn, cast Damia, Sage of Stone from the command zone

T3 use Hall of the Bandit Lord on any number of BGU creatures that can kick major ass by giving them haste.

That's my best 3 turn plan for it.

That's a god hand. This forum is basically 2 lands and a mana vault. A lot more likely.

I've seen so many mana vaults in opening hands.

Nobody runs Mana Vault at my LGS except for me. Everybody runs Sol Ring though.

That is literal God hand. But it's possible lol
