Alesha Vs Shirei: weenie reanimator showdown
Commander (EDH) forum

I have decided to create a budget* commander deck, and I can't decide between Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker and Alesha, Who Smiles at Death. After looking at some list, these are my conclusions:
Alesha:
Pros: cheaper to cast, can reanimate marginally bigger things, is in more colors, better combat stats, awesome name, decklists can function without her in more aggro/weenie lists.
Cons: only one creature reanimated per round (usually), requires actual mana base, less powerful "best scenarios", ability uses mana
Shirei:
Pros: basic mana base, mass reanimate, more synergy, better "best scenario" (total lockdown)
Cons: deck can be very commander dependent, only one color, higher CMC
Any suggestions and/or musings? Which of these things matter?
*budget is 200$
I feel like aleesha gives you so many more options 1 power can be very limiting, in my Teysa, Orzhov Scion weenie-reanimator/ token-sac/ life-drain deck 2-3 power is by far and large the norm in my deck, red and white also open up a massive amount of options for you to reanimate

I have to agree with donatedwarrior9 on this. Shadowborn Apostle with shirei is nuts. Throw a couple of heavy hitting demons in there and sac the duders to get bigger duders and then have them come back. On everyone's turn. Then on your turn profit from your new army of demons and their little friends.

Alesha + Goblin Bombardment/Blasting Station with Karmic Guide and Fiend Hunter in yard = kill everyone
Alesha + any sac engine with Karmic Guide and Reveillark in grave = reanimate every creature in yard with power 2 or less + get their ETBs as many times as you want (Goblin Settler)
Alesha with Karmic Guide, Sun Titan, and Dolmen Gate or Reconnaissance or any of a ton of other good stuffs in the yard = a good time.
Basically Karmic Guide makes Alesha awesome.

You could always play Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker in a deck with a bunch of Shadowborn Apostles. He just returns them every turn.
