When to Run Chains

I've been thinking of adding Chains of Mephistopheles in my mono black edh deck. I already own two copies of the card (2 Chainz!), so I figured I might as well take one out of the binder and put it good use.

I have 6 cards in the deck which draw me cards...

  1. Read the Bones
  2. Sign in Blood
  3. Night's Whisper
  4. Phyrexian Arena
  5. Sensei's Divining Top
  6. Trading Post

The last 2 are mostly irrelevant. Given this, is it still worth it to run in the deck? I have a hard time against blue players who continuously counter my spells and accrue card advantage through draw spells.

Me personally, I would just run Omen Machine tbh.

Run necropotence and chains since necro doesn't actually draw cards, therefore getting around chains

Good grief man can you get better card draw? I would sell the one chains for cards that draw better then your choices.

I feel that the omen machine is too costly for what it does, and giving free spells to everyone is a little too much.

Wurmlover

That is already in the deck and it is the plan. Thank you :)

Interestingly enough, the deck doesnt need so much card draw. Being able to reuse tutors to get what I need is extremely helpful. The only times card draw has sometimes been an issue is with gravehate.

Yeah, I saw that neat synergy before. I also saw it's synergy with Anvil of Bogardan. If I were to put in another card to go with chains, it would be the anvil due to the ability to loot and then lock people out of their draws.

BUba Mask is great against those pesky blue mages.
