I have been editing my EDH deck using EDHREC and when I view recommended lists, some cards have "In the 99" written over them. Does anyone know what this means? Is it something to do with staple cards?

In the 99 means all the cards that aren't the commander. EDHREC uses the "in the 99" on all cards that are recommended for inclusion that could also be used as commanders, i.e. legendary creature and/or certain planeswalkers.

Absolutely right. In the 99 simply translates to among the 99 cards that make up your EDH deck. You'll notice, if you ever watch magic coverage for standard, modern, or legacy, you'll often hear the phrase in the 75. That means the same thing as among the 60 cards in the deck and the 15 cards in the sideboard.

  • "He doesn't have any enchantment removal anywhere in his 75."
  • "They must be on the same team, because they're each running the exact same 75."
