Tier 1 Stax General?

So I have this killer Stax deck run by Oloro, Ageless Ascetic but some of the people in my EDH friend group are running some really annoying and powerful decks (like Purphoros, God of the Forge). What are some of the best (cheap) Tier 1 Stax commanders?

I would recommend looking at the EDH Tier list. The only true "Tier 1" stax general is Teferi, Temporal Archmage. Your next option is Brago, King Eternal at Tier 1.5.

Thanks guys, both really helpful. I was told that Zur the Enchanter and Sharuum the Hegemon were Tier 1 too, is this not the case?

Okay, according to your list, Zur is. Any advice on what to run with him. I intend to have a lot of artifacts and few creatures

Zur isn't really a stax deck, stax does not usually bear the title Ad Nauseam and Doomsday (as shown under the Tier 1 deck listings). If you are going to use Zur as a stax commander, he is no longer "Tier 1". It's more like slow voltron at that point.

Oh shit, so the only Tier 1 commander I can use with Stax to be considered Tier 1 would be Teferi, Temporal Archmage?Also, what deck can I make around Zur to be considered Tier 1. I'm really trying to level up

Yes, now your catching on lol!
The decks aren't exactly budget friendly though. If you're on a budget I would seriously consider sticking to 1 - 2 colored generals.

I would consider reading the description of the tier listing as tier 1 decks are the fastest and most consistent decks you can build. Games will usually end before turns get to double digits. Unless you seriously want to wreck everyone in your meta or push everyone to make more competitive decks, then I would suggest toning down the lists I posted.
Chances are if you are unfamiliar with the EDH tier list, then your meta isn't super competitive. My suggestion would to choose a general that has a similar tier to the ones most commonly seen in your meta, then build as close as possible to the suggested list (seen if you scroll down).

Sounds good, I used to have an Eldrazi deck that could consistently win on turn 7 but I got too many complaints so I took it apart. I just made a Zur deck with all my Stax artifacts. Meant to play Zur and protect him so I get Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, Mana Vortex, and lastly Stasis. I then usually get a Possessed Portal and Planar Bridge out, so basically they can't attack me and then they sacrifice everything and I'm the only one who can get cards, I usually get Elspeth, Sun's Champion so I get sac fodder. Very consistent. I'll be tweaking it according to your advice, JaceTheSwagSculpter (great username btw). Thanks

It sounds really clunky to run 6 - 8 drops when you are also running Stasis, Mana Vortex, and most likely other lock down effects. Bitterblossom is going to be better as sac fodder since it is fetchable with Zur.
Nonetheless, if you post a list I can try to help you with it as long as you give me an idea of your budget.

I'd be glad if you could check it out. It's just a rough draft definitely thinking of taking some things out like Spreading Plague and maybe a mass-removal spell. Your advice has been useful thus far, feel free to give me more.

I made a $60 version of Brago, King Eternal that did really well for a casual deck. Sadly, I don't have a list because it's been upgraded but here are the main pieces.
Strionic Resonator, Altar of the Brood, Sol Ring (any amount of mana rocks that produce a total of two mana), and brago = infinite mill
Strionic Resonator + Oblivion Ring/Detention Sphere + brago exiles the board permanently
Muddle the Mixture toots for Strionic Resonator
other cool cards are Peregrine Drake, Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, Thorn of Amethyst, Vryn Wingmare, Tangle Wire, Parallax Tide, Parallax Wave, Reality Acid, Stunt Double/Clever Impersonator, Traveler's Cloak, Act of Authority, Storm Crow for power, Treachery, Phyrexian Ingester, Resolute Archangel, Duplicant, Sun Titan, Genesis Chamber, Stasis (personal favorite), Mystic Remora, Lavinia of the Tenth, Lyev Skyknight, Cloudblazer, and Unquestioned Authority.
Brago plays best in a pod. 1v1, he doesn't really have a lot of time to set up his stax/combo. I hope you like the deck as much as I do!
