Sword Tribal

Commander Deck Help forum

I'm looking to start building a sword tribal deck in which I only include swords and people with swords. What would be a solid commander/sub-strategy for this idea? I got inspired through playing another deck which had Wall of Swords in it.

The obvious theme is Equipments.

The Sword Cycle, Sword of Vengeance, Sigiled Sword of Valeron, Forebear's Blade, and Sword of the Animist are great swords. Stoneforge Mystic has swords in it's art (even though she isn't holding them).

Aurelia, the Warleader, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Tajic, Blade of the Legion, Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer, Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice, and Tajic, Legion's Edge are all decent equipment commanders that are holding swords. Tajic (both versions) have the most obvious swords in their art, so I would head that direction.

Ensouled Scimitar and Dancing Scimitar cut out the middleman. If you want sword tribal, you need swords holding swords.

Early-game swords are pretty much Leonin Scimitar, Honed Khopesh (I think), and Veteran's Sidearm.

Use Short Sword instead of Veteran's Sidearm. Apologies for the triple post.

Najeela, the Blade-Blossom is a strong Commander who gives you access to WUBRG, and Battlebond itself is a mine for sword-related cards. Tron is your obvious strategy, but secondary tribal could work (e.g. Soldiers or Warriors) for go-wide.

this may be a dumb idea, but are there any lands/mana rocks with swords on them as well? I'm trying to figure out how much of the deck can actually be swords.

Cathedral of War. You could go voltron. 8 swords on one guy.

Okay, I put some things together from this thread among other sources and here's my list as of right now. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sword-tribal-3/?cb=1541459329

Otherwise, if you are more about theme & less about the fun commander mechanic... Danitha Capashen, Paragon is a Benalish knight & seems "swordsy"

Hero's Blade is a great sword for tron. Angel of Invention has four swords, and actually there are tons of angels that meet the brief (Adarkar Valkyrie, Archangel of Thune, both Akromas).

Ooh, and Odric, Lunarch Marshal, epic with the Akromas in play.

lol the scram commander deck can look quick funny being a deck that just plays scram Puresteel Paladin things that make artifacts 1 mana cheaper and then pretty much every 0-1 cmc equipment and I forget what it runs to actually win a game (maybe Aetherflux Reservoir)?

I'd like to think that in a perfect world, simply equipping a sword onto another sword would instantly win you the game for being unbelievably rad

The Weatherlight and 6th edition printing of Fervor have a sword in them. Hasty commander...
