Steady Progress or Guildpact Informant?

Commander Deck Help forum

The latest change that I am considering making to my Atraxa EDH deck is to replace Steady Progress with Guildpact Informant , since the latter card is a creature; the former card is an instant, which is nice, but the informant can proliferate repeatedly, which is an obvious benefit. The informant also will not trigger Flux Channeler 's ability, but it instead can have +1/+1 counters, and there are still a sufficient number of non-creature spells in this deck to cause the channeler's ability to trigger.

What does everyone else say about this? Should I replace steady progress with guildpact informant?

I wouldn't play either of them in all honesty. You have a fair bit of good proliferate already, so I would say to find ways to protect your game plan and/or slow your opponents instead of adding in these relatively weak cards. (Weak in comparison to cards that do similar things regardless of the proliferate)

I would get Evolution Sage into the main deck.

I agree with GhostChieftain both those cards are not very good especially since you're playing four colors. You should be able to find two better cards then these when you have four colors to choose from. You already have enough cards that can proliferate. Atraxa can proliferate which makes playing many other cards that can proliferate not as needed.

You have the right idea with wanting to replace a one shot effect spell with a repeatable effect from a permanent, but you should look deeper into what cards will help your deck more :)

To add onto what multimedia said, replacing a one shot spell with a permanent is usually good but keep in mind that sometimes a strong instant is all you need to win the game. Don't just trade out all your non permanents, but also try to never pay 3 for a draw one spell because Brainstorm , Gitaxian Probe , Ponder and many similar cards exist.

I think you should try Jace, Arcane Strategist because he helps with +1/+1 counters (although he can't proliferate) and can also draw cards. His second loyalty ability can be used to take out someone easily.

Looked at the list and I noticed your not playing Spark Double I'd recommend that over the other two cards you mentioned

shadow63, yes, that is a good card, but it would raise the mana curve of my deck, which I do not wish to do.
