Hey all

Im on abit of a deckcrafting spree (trying to make out some budget decks for friends) and am currently working on Xenagos, God of Revels since I had a Xenagos, the Reveler lying around and I thought it'd be fun. What are some staples for him? I don't just want links to EDHrec if thats okay. I've been there but I need more explanations then anything.

Are you looking for staples specifically for him, or just for G/R staples? Pathbreaker Ibex seems legit.

Malignus is basically an auto include. He one shots any player who can't block him. Mage Slayer is also not a bad bit of kit. Double's Xenagod's ability.

Xenagod is fun because he is generally straightforward and easy to work with. Most of the staples for him are staples because they are solid Fatties with a little extra something on them, just like the prior two recomended creatures are. I like cards that can boost themselves before they attack, like Chameleon Colossus which can end up attack as a 128/128 if you have mana to spare. Also you have the option of additional utility in the form of creatures that have abilities based of their power, like if you can buff up a Champion of Lambholt

I ran Xenagos, God of Revels for a long time until I swapped to Omnath, Locus of Rage

Atarka, World Render hits for 24 w xenagod. Craterhoof Behemoth ends games. Hydra Omnivore is solid.

Cyclops Gladiator and Mordant Dragon are great for damage and creature removal. Balefire Dragon is a sweeper. Chandra's Ignition flat out ends games with someone like Malignus. Another game winner is Triumph of the Hordes

Extra combat phases are scary too. Relentless Assault, Savage Beating, Seize the Day, etc

I also ran infinite combat phases
Aggravated Assault + Savage Ventmaw
Aggravated Assault + Sword of Feast and Famine + Creature
Aggravated Assault + Bear Umbra + Creature
Aggravated Assault + Nature's Will + Creature
Hellkite Charger + Sword of Feast and Famine
Hellkite Charger + Bear Umbra
Hellkite Charger + Nature's Will

Don't forget to add in a ton of ramp get to get it rippin' and roarin'! Have fun!

Also if you have access to Blade of Selves, it pairs well with a lot of the suggested creatures. Very strong multiplayer card for decks of this type
