Spells for Najeela

Commander Deck Help forum

So I’m working on a Najeela, the Blade-Blossom deck to replace my Jodah, Archmage Eternal I already have a good pacakage of warriors all together, but I was wondering what instants, scorceries, enchants, and artifacts that may be good for the deck.

Nature's Will is used to go infinite provided you have the lands to activate her extra combat ability, Druids' Repository can be used in the same way but with creatures, Coat of Arms goes in every tribal deck, and Kindred Summons will often allow you to play every creature in your deck with the number of tokens you're making

Not having a decklist to see what you are already considering makes it a bit more difficult to know what direction you're already looking at. With that in mind:

Beastmaster Ascension - +5/+5 that is super easy to activate with an aggressive deck.

Wild Pair - Always a favorite of mine and turns your library into a toolbox of possibilities so long as you have a good mix of power/toughness

Descendants' Path - Cheats creatures into play, and you don't loose out on your draw if it doesn't happen to be a creature. If you're running heavy tribal it usually hits gold more often than not.

Heirloom Blade - Much like Descendants' Path but with death effects. It can really help you recover after a wrath, or make an opponent think twice about removing one of your threats.

Call to the Kindred - More digging out of your warriors.

Cryptic Gateway - Lets you cheat your tribal creatures into play.

Shared Animosity - Usually a nice big power boost to all your warriors when they attack. If Najeela, the Blade-Blossom 's ability has been used, they get trample, lifelink, and haste to go with their new power boost.

drpeppercan Diddle Thanks for the good suggestions. I’ll make sure to put the deck up when it is finished. I am really interested in the idea of using Wild Pair once I check through the creatures I’ve got in the deck. Already have a copy of Coat of Arms and Nature's Will on the way for the deck.

drpeppercan What are your thoughts on putting Land Tax in the deck. I recently got a second copy from Battlebond and was thinking of putting it in since I am running mostly basic land searchers like Kodama's Reach and Farseek

Without seeing the deck it's hard to say what will be best. Land Tax is a great color fixing card because you can search for any basic land, though it comes into its own when it hits the field early in the game. Best way to think of it is like another ramp spell, but depending how many of those you're playing yourself along with cards like Exploration which allow you to play additional lands, you may be the person who has the most lands in play.

Bear Umbra goes inf with najeela.

Bident of Thassa , Coastal Piracy , Keep Watch and Benefactor's Draught are brilliant sources of draw for a najeela warrior deck. I found keeping the pace up very difficult if an early game rush is answered. These cards keep your hand stocked well.

SP3CTR3_chelts Yeah after the first two runs of the deck I liked all the early game stuff, but after a board wipe I ran out of gas a little so I will probably add in more card draw like Coastal Piracy and Keep Watch

Also you really cant be nice with this deck at all, pick the slowest deck and go after them. If you stop attacking you will loose.

I would recommend running more removal. With access to all colours you can run a fairly all encompassing removal package Utter End , Anguished Unmaking , Putrefy ect. enchantments and creatures that stop hordes from attacking pose a real threat to the deck

Kindred Discovery also is a ridiculous amount of draw for this deck which may seem bad however it gives you a huge kick start. You can always remove it yourself (I use to have to remove it myself when i started to run it but quickly other people destroyed it earlier as they saw how potent it was (I play in a fairly closed group))

SP3CTR3_chelts I have a bunch of removal I can slot into the deck, but I wouldn’t be too sure on what to swap out. I’ll probably be swapping my Rhystic Study for a card that is more offensive card draw. But I’m not sure what else I could slot out.

I think cards like Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora are great for getting back in the game and fuelling a push.

Shared Animosity is also ridiculously good. For such a cheep enchantment it is soo aggressive. Especially as it gives them a boost until the end of turn so if you untap and attack again the creatures that attacked twice get a double boost! (although it does not trigger on the warriors that are created tapped and attacking. But, if you stack your triggers correctly it will count them when giving your warriors that attacked a boost). Purphoros, God of the Forge if you have or can get your hands on one is just a better Impact Tremors more damage, Indestructibility and pump ability is great.

In terms removing cards from the deck:

I think Wild Pair is too costly in terms of CMC but if you have a good argument I'll happily listen.

You could probably cut a couple of lands. I run low 30's I think but I also do run more signets.

Probably creatures is where I would drop the other cards. Combat Celebrant can be great but I normally find it to be underwhelming as it dies far too quickly. Gruul Spellbreaker for me is a standard card, It does not really protect much (only really against settle the wreckage). Samut, Voice of Dissent I find is too mana intensive as generally if I have that much mana i want to attack again.

Try taking some of these out and swapping them in for low costing hard hitting removal (mainly multipurpose enchantment and creature removal) and you will find you stagnate less.

SP3CTR3_chelts I think I’ll remove 2 check lands from the deck since I don’t really feel comfortable going below 35 lands since I don’t have too much mana ramp in the deck, excluding the ones that put land onto the battlefield.

Then I’ll remove Combat Celebrant , Wild Pair , Gruul Spellbreaker , and Samut, Voice of Dissent , Bow of Nylea since a lot of the time the creatures don’t get blocked anyways, and swap out Coat of Arms for one of the other tribal artifact.

Swapping them out for 2-3 pieces of removal, maybe a Mystical Tutor , probably 1-2 signets for the deck into the deck for some more mana ramp, and getting Coastal Piracy and Keep Watch into the deck for some more card draw.

Yeah give that a shot and it should stop you from hitting as many brick walls. I would also lean towards instant speed removal rather than sorcery.
