Need some help dusting off a Rith deck

Commander Deck Help forum

I used to play a lot of EDH, but my playgroup all moved away so I moved on to Standard and then Modern. Well, most of my old playgroup is going to be back in town over the holidays, and we're already talking about getting together for some games.

I'd love your help bringing my Rith, the Awakener deck up to date. I'm especially interested in cards from recent sets (e.g., Commander 2016 and 2017; and Shadows, Kaladesh, Amonkhet, and Ixalan blocks). Please note that I'm aiming for a 75% build, with no tutors (except for lands) and very strong flavor (e.g., Saproling and Dragon tokens only). Also, the deck's on a tight budget, so any card over $5 has to be REALLY good.

Thanks in advance!

Also, wow you have exactly a score of 100 on this deck. That's awesome haha :D

rockleemyhero,
Yeah, Rith is going to be VERY happy to get out of her box and onto a table again!

Growing Rites of Itlimoc  Flip is a great idea. Maybe it's not quite a Gaea's Cradle reprint, but it's close. And at a tiny fraction of the price!

And yeah, I was amazed when I noticed the score. I haven't touched it in a while so I wasn't cycling or anything ... it's just been quietly accumulating views and upvotes, and I was blown away by how many!

Thanks so much! :-)

Verdant Force gives you a saproling token on every upkeep, and Verdant Embrace makes another creature a Verdant Force. Second Harvest could be a late game win for you, and a similar option in red is Kindred Charge. All are well within your budget. Throwing in a Goblin Bombardment could help out as a finisher, too.

bushido_man96,
Thanks for the suggestions.

I actually ran Verdant Force in the early days of the deck, but found it EXTREMELY slow. For 8 mana, I was very happy to swap it out for Utvara Hellkite. Unfortunately, Verdant Embrace is just as slow.

I've gone back and forth on Second Harvest, but have never actually tired it out. I'll give it a relook.

I really enjoy Goblin Bombardment (especially when paired with Goblin Sharpshooter) and it's been on Rith's maybeboard for ages now. But I think it's probably just a better fit in my Hazezon Tamar deck than in this one.

Thanks again!
