Need Help Cutting Azami!

Commander Deck Help forum

I need some help getting my Azami deck, wmm-needs-help-cutting down to 100 cards. I'm also debating whether or not its worth changing up the deck in a few specific ways. For example, is it a good idea to go the snow-land route w Heidar, Rimewind Master, Scrying Sheets and Rimewind Taskmage? Or should I try to play with the option of winning by combat damage using things like Master of Waves, Delver of Secrets  Flip, Obelisk of Urd, Brass Herald, and Adaptive Automaton? And one small thing, I would really like to use the Memory Lapse, Remand, Unsubstantiate, and Delay package for more tempo but I don't have room. Thanks in advance, all help is appreciated.

If you're going for Mind Over Matter combo as your primary win then I'd recommend against trying to make "wizard beatdown" a backup wincon. For example, there's a reason why Delver is playable in Legacy but is completely absent from most blue Commander decks. There is value in packing in a small amount of wizard tribal - so long as you stick to wizards of real value. Patron Wizard yes, Sea Gate Oracle ehhh...

Tamiyo doesn't seem that strong for enabling your primary or secondary game plans. Even with the relatively modest amount of artifact ramp you have, replacing her with Tezzeret would do wonders.

Ancestral Vision isn't bad but you'd really rather have draw on demand and not several turns later. Distant Melody is awful unless you luck into drawing and keeping in play many of the small number of creatures in your deck.

Thanks man! Im using a lot of those suggestions. Were I to use tezzeret, what other artifacts do you think I should use?

If you include Nykthos among your lands then Expedition Map is a strong choice. Other options are Coldsteel Heart, Worn Powerstone, Thran Dynamo, Mana Vault, Sky Diamond, and Gilded Lotus.

Obviously you don't want all of these. Which ones are best for you will depend on if you badly need more blue mana or if colorless will suffice, and the trade off between getting mana rocks in play earlier versus having a bigger payoff when they do land.

Oh, and can you include more low CMC or alternate cost counterspells in place of some of what you have now?

Swan Song in particular is an all-star.

Foil can be free but it's often going to just gum up your hand. The exception is as you're going off with the combo and in that situation Forbid is all you need.

Muddle the Mixture is really a tutor for 2CMC spells but it can also be a counter.

Shoutouts to all that have helped, this deck is so much more refined than any other commander deck I have. Big thanks to Omeros, ijonu, Raging_Squiggle, and Triton, this deck is looking great!

Hello all! The deck is looking really good, but I have one question. Even though I have deleted them, when I go to playtest the deck, four cards still show up. Venser, Shaper Savant, Vapor Snag, Sensei's Divining Top, and Merchant Scroll still show up in the playtester though they dont show up in the decklist, board editer, spoiler view, or edit mode. Any idea why?

That's a weird bug. The closest I've seen to that is sometimes when I remove a card from the interface rather than edit menu, it still appears visibly in the decklist despite being absent if you check it with edit mode.

It seems to have resolved itself!
