Let's talk about Nissa's Revelation

This card is fantastic. I mean, green needed a few more draw spells, but where this really shines IMO is in Golgari commander. I'm a big fan of Savra, Queen of the Golgari, and a card that not only let's me draw potentially several cards, while letting me fix those draws to some extent, but also gains life to replace the life I've spent clearing opposing boards is bloody fantastic. It let's me pain myself much more confidently, and in GB sac/reanimation, I can just keep playing it again and again thanks to everyone's favorite Eternal Witness. Also there are few things more satisfying than scrying, then revealing Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre to draw ten gain ten.

You can miss with this thing and it costs a ton of mana. Even in green, you usually have access to better draw. Even more so if you have access to black.

For 7 mana scry 5 just isn't reliable enough. Even with 35 creatures you won't hit a single one 10% of the time. If you have 15 creatures with power 4+ you'll hit one less than half the time you cast it. And unlike something like Regal Force or Garruk, Primal Hunter you can't know how good or bad it's going to be until you commit those resources.

I ran it in Patron of the Orochi for awhile and it was a complete flop. Playtesting any deck and just pulling 5 cards off the top of the library it's amazing how rarely you hit something worthwhile, it's usually like 1/3 of the time.

I mean, seven mana isn't that much for commander, especially in GB commander... It's obviously most useful late-game, when I may be running low on cards/life, but after I've done my early-game ramping. Sure, I CAN miss with it, but given that roughly a third of my deck is creatures, and with that Scry 5 first, missing isn't very likely. And even if it ends up being a small return, you can send away four bad cards, reveal one mediocre a one, and possibly draw some good ones that you didn't see.

Obviously black has access to some great draw spells. But most of the best (Necropotence, Phyrexian Arena, Greed) cost life to draw, and this card can help replace it after I've drained myself. Green's draw spells are usually more dependent on already having a board state, with things like Shamanic Revelation, Collective Unconscious and Greater Good that are useless without a prescense on the board already. This card has no such limitation.

If you're running Savra, I'd suggest looking into picking up Smothering Abomination when BFZ drops.

If you want to draw cards and gain life in one green card, things like Shamanic Revelation or Momentous Fall work much better. Hell I would run Pelakka Wurm before I would run Nissa's Revelation because at least you are guaranteeing a big body with your life gain. If you really need draw power, you can also just ditch the life gain and go for cards like Harmonize, Sylvan Library, Regal Force, or Greater Good. I mean I guess as a budget alternative to these cards sure, but other than that it really isn't all that.
