Commander Deck Help forum

Hi all! As I wrote in the title, i just got back into the game and need some help with my deck:

Putting the "No" in "Mono-blue"

Duel Commander Ryknow

SCORE: 1 | 128 VIEWS

More specifically, i found that my LGS meta is now all about land destruction cards, with being in every single deck, with the exception of a couple (including mine).

What I'm asking you is some help to make my deck less vulnerable to this type of resource denial, but I'd even accept some advice on blue land-hate cards, just to "join the party" (I don't know if those cards even exist).

It would be great if you could maintain your advices on a low budget, as I don't get to spend a lot of money in the game at the moment (less than 5 euros on single cards would be okay).

Not sure if I wrote everything that could "help you helping me", but if you have any doubt just ask me. Thanks in advance!

P.S.: Sorry for my english, just correct me if I made any awful mistake!

If you're worried about land destruction; I'd start by removing Coral Atoll as that is an amazing target for LD. It would set you back big if they removed it right after you return a land to hand. Probably remove Seat of the Synod too, as a simple Naturalize kills it

I'd shoot to draw more cards. Rhystic Study is a favorite of mine. If you want to drop some cash; Consecrated Sphinx is incredible.

With your huge amount of instants; Isochron Scepter might be a good idea too. Get some extra distance out of your many Counterspells

Your English is awesome by the way!

greyninja: First of all, thanks for commenting!

I do agree with removing Coral Atoll, while for Seat of the Synod I can say it's there mainly to get some ramp out of Trinket Mage, but maybe i could just remove both and get two free spots...Not sure though.

Sadly, Consecrated Sphinx is out of my budget for now, but I will surely add it when I'll get the chance!

Isochron Scepter and Rhystic Study are going to be added, I didn't already do it only because i never found one for sale at my LGS.

Thanks for the upvote too!

You might find Trade Routes and Journeyer's Kite helpful against land destruction. Cards like Propaganda and Dream Tides can be useful as well, because your opponent will be often be able to either cast spells or attack you, but not both. Since your mana costs are fairly low, Winter Orb combines well with those enchantments as well.
Forbid is often helpful as well, especially against opponents who haven't played against it much and don't know how to beat it.

Arby_Q: Thanks for commenting, Those are really useful suggestions! I didn't even know about Trade Routes, while Journeyer's Kite seems a bit slow, but not bad.

Forbid is a strictly better Cancel, so it will definitely find a place in the deck.

I really like Winter Orb, Propaganda and Dream Tides, because I can deny their resources and fight fire with fire.

Thanks again!

If you want some blue land removal, Sunder is just amusing.

There are a lot of mana rocks that would be good to prevent the loss of mana too. cards like Sol Ring, Sky Diamond, and Darksteel Ingot are decent and relatively cheap, so you can start there.

High Tide is also pretty good.
