Is it Better to include Hanna in the 99, OR Use her as the General?

Commander Deck Help forum

I'm trying to make an artifacts matter deck with Hanna, Ship's Navigator with abit of a pillowfort package. So far it's been decent but it feels almost lacking somehow. Like there isn't enough ways to win I suppose. I don't really have a decklist, so sorry about that, but can anyone tell me if theres a commander , Not Breya...., that she would go good in? Or could someone show me a budget good Hanna list?'

Thanks in advanced!

Oloro is a fun pillow fort. Also good is grand arbiter Augustine.

Have you considered Sydri, Galvanic Genius? I had a friend who ran her in an artifacts matter pillowforty style deck and it was really effective.

@Deathbend

Hm Augustine would get me hated out instantly. Oloro is an idea though.

@@nch0r Hm not really. I thought she was really comboy. Isn't she?.

How would it be splashing red into this deck?

@Kaneki__Ken It certainly can be combo centric, but it can also be more artifact goodstuff. When he started the deck I remember he would drop Spine of Ish Sah get rid of a permanent and then use it as a lifelinking deathtouch blocker that nobody ever wanted to swing into because it just went back into his hand to have its etb wreck us again. that and any artifact creature could have lifelink so his life total was always really high.

I have a fantastic artifact deck - Machine March that is super fun to play, with Atraxa, Praetors' Voice as commander and Hanna, Ship's Navigator as one of the 99. Take a look, perhaps it will inspire you.

Not much of a pillowfort, but you could easily manage that with some changes. ;-)

Hey, I suggest using Hanna for an enchantment pillowfort strategy backed up with Sun Titan with the usual staple Azorius control cards. I suggest enchantments because there's better artifact matter Commanders namely Breya.

You can build a budget (each card less than $6) enchantment defense with Enchanted Evening, Sphere of Safety, Karmic Justice and Mystic Remora including creature denying attack enchantments Ghostly Prison and Propaganda. Aura of Silence and Solemnity can shut down other stuff for your opponents.

Sun Titan is very good because he can reanimate a lot of important enchantments including Detention Sphere and Oblivion Ring. Titan and Hanna can do a good job of keeping enchantments in your control and in your hand.

Sigil of the Empty Throne can be a win condition with enchantments you get back with Hanna since you'll have to cast them again. Mesa Enchantress can be a draw engine for the same reason.

@Woiteck I'll be sure the give the list a look over!

@multimedia The thing is I'd really like to do artifacts since I just got a Metalworker for an early Christmas present. Is Breya really the best in all cases?

In my opinion red is really important for artifact matters, in edh the recursion from Trash for Treasure, Goblin Welder, Scrap Mastery and Daretti, Scrap Savant is invaluable. Jeskai doesn't really have a artifacts matter commander but you still have the partners and you could totally make a Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest deck that would be a lot of fun since artifacts trigger prowess. Eggs is a pretty fun way to go imo and you would have access to Chandra's Ignition as a win on.

Alternatively you could go Grixis with Mairsil, the Pretender which I think would be really fun though I haven't put it together myself yet.

@dlamars I kinda thought red was nifty. Thanks for pointing those out to me. So after all of this should I just go Breya? I've seen and have been researching black since @nch0r recommended Sydri. Black also has some fun toys

Well I like Breya but it gets old comboing out with her and the mana base is kinda spendy. I think Grixis, Jeskai or Esper is really the way to go but that's just my opinion.
