Improving Kami-Dor: A Tribal Spirits Primer

Commander Deck Help forum

So I'm trying to tweak and improve Kami-Dor while still keeping the tribal spirit theme.

Anyone got any suggestions or ideas that might help?

You could not run spirits... There's a reason Kamigawa is considered to be one of the most poorly designed blocks.

Even if you want to keep the spirits here's some advice: cut all the soulshift creatures, soulshift is one of the most parasitic and useless mechanics ever printed. (Except He Who Hungers, he actually has a relevant ability.) One Gravedigger put in the same amount of work without a CMC restriction or having to wait until it dies.

sonnet666 read the deck. It is intentionally soul shift built around.

The mechanic is fairly weak but it provides a lot of recursion and is different to the usual value decks. I've played value decks for 2 years now, they bore me. Give me a gimmick every time.

Well, I guess that's your prerogative...

You know Shriekmaw is just as recurrable with Karador as Crib Swap is with soulshift, right?

Since this is deck help I have to ask, if you don't want your deck to function efficiently, what do you want it to do? You say "value" decks bore you, but that's a really broad term. Does value mean efficient spells, or does it mean card advantage? Do you not want any "value" in your decks?

So I played Karador Combo and Karador Goodstuff. The ones with entomb and the like. Just good cards. Value. Recurring it with Karador etc.

I've played Damia Goodstuff Control, I've played Riku with Recruiter/Kiki combo. I've played so many decks of good stuff. They bore me. Lots of power and not much synergy.

This is a deck designed to work around the spirit tribal synergy and how they interact with casting spirits/arcane. Karador was the inspiration because his ability lets you cast, which in turn triggers more ability. Really, I'm looking to make this the best gimmick deck I can.

Long-Forgotten Gohei would help a lot here.
