I Need Suggestions on Upgrading a Budget Deck

First of all, I'd like to say that I do make my own custom decks, but Fangorian's deck: Edric and Tiny Thugs incorporates a cool play-style that I've never attempted before (I'm a relatively new player), and sure enough, after trying it out, I really liked it.
That being said, I figured that I could upgrade this the deck over a long period time to make it even better than it already is so that I can hang with some of the more ruthless spike players that I occasionally play against.
I guess the only rule for this deck is that the mana cost has to be cheap, since the deck relies on speed and efficiency, but card price isn't really an issue: I'm not going to buy them all at once anyway.
Lastly, I couldn't get Fangorian's deck link to work, but I spelled and capitalized everything correctly.

Thanks, I don't know what I did wrong. When I created a link for my own deck list, I didn't have an issue.
Anyhow, looks like I'll be hitting up edhrec.com
