I Can't Decide On Which One???

Commander Deck Help forum

Muldrotha, the Gravetide

Jodah, Archmage Eternal

Najeela, the Blade-Blossom

Karador, Ghost Chieftain

Sidisi, Brood Tyrant

Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder

Derevi, Empyrial Tactician

I can't decide which one to make as my new commander so I'm asking for help. I'm on a slight budget so stax is off the table. I like every general that is here so please just vote for which one I should run.

Personally, my choice would be Derevi, Empyrial Tactician. She's got a great ability, strong colours, and can lead to some interesting, fun decks.

Any of them can make a strong deck. Do you have a play style you prefer?

Just a quick look at your decks I saw modern warriors. If you enjoy that chances are you would enjoy Najeela. Personally I like things that are less predictable which Yidris fits to a T.

This is mostly personal prefrence, but I've brewed up a squirrel nest tribal derevi deck and it looks fun, here is a link to the list of cards, I never got around to cutting too many things or making a landbase though.

If you're on budget, keep it to three colors and make sure it has green. You're gonna be able to save a ton on land and ramp just because of the many good and cheap options available to you.

For casual fun I'd go with Muldrotha. If your meta is a bit more cutthroat Derevi would be my choice.

I'm going to toss out a vote for Jodah, Archmage Eternal. There are a couple of these decks floating around in my meta and they're actually quite good. He essentially lets you cheat mana cost, which is generally considered an extremely powerful mechanic. It really does come down to your meta though. Jodah wouldn't do so hot in a very aggressive or stax heavy meta.

Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is my favourite, and my vote. Yidris is fun too.

All of them are strong commanders and it depends lots on your archetype preference, playgroup power level and more. I'd try sticking to one of the 3 color commanders from budget restraints.

Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder is my favorite for sure, and my vote, but Derevi, Empyrial Tactician is sweet too.

Muldrotha gets my vote, then second place to karador! If you are looking for budget powerhouses, having a strong engine kn the command zone is very nice!

Najeela is the most budget friendly of all those commanders because 90% of the good warriors are between 50 cents to 3 dollars. The deck is good mostly cause of Najeela herself and the tribal synergy and you don't need to go big like with the other decks.

Najeela and her warriors might be cheap, but the ramp and land package you're going to need won't be.

Not true. Most of the warriors skewer to red, green, and white. Just some knowledge into what you need color wise and a few cards like Mana Confluence, City of Brass, Command Tower, Exotic Orchard, Forbidden Orchard, and get a Chromatic Lantern and thats all the real expense you need. It worked for my Najeela deck.

The cost of the lands and ramp varies wildly with the kind of tables you play at. I can get away with a lot for instance because some of the people I play with are barely using decks better than a precon. Others will need something at least semi-competitive.

Something based off this page Best 100$ Budget "Tier-1 Styled" 5 Color Mana Base gets it done the vast majority of the time.

That base, to me, is still incredibly bad. You'll have tons of your lands enter tapped over the course of a game. That's going to cost you a lot in speed.
