Help with Inalla ETB

Commander Deck Help forum

After seeing Inalla, Archmage Ritualist spoiled, I immediately built a deck around it. However, it's just a rough draft and I really don't know what I'm doing. Any help and suggestions appreciated!

Dualcaster Mage could be nice for this deck. If you ahve four mana open, you can copy an instant or sorcery twice. Another okay card could be Manic Scribe, which would be better if your going for mill and had more evenly distributed card types, but it's worth a thought. If you want more control cards, theirs Simic Manipulator, which helps you gain control of creatures (Although mostly creatures with five or lower power unless you copy/gain control of a bigger creature). Unless you want a more subtle approach, in which case Sower of Temptation could work better since you'd get two creatures right away (Although they'll go away once the assigned sower leaves the field). I'd recommend Treasure Mage, but it'd only be able to search for two more cards than the Trophy Mage already in the deck, and is probably far more expensive. The only other card that I'd highly recommend is Docent of Perfection  Flip, which will buff your wizards quite a bite if you get three or more, plus it'll make a few small ones when you cast instants and such.

scratch the Treasure Mage being more expensive than Trophy Mage part, according to tapped out, it's only 0.13$ more, so it's worth a thought.

Treasure Mage doesn't search out a single thing in th deck...

Docent of Perfection  Flip and Dualcaster Mage are super strong, however, I only have 7 total Instants/Sorceries. Are there any good sells I could add?

Unfortunately, Sower of Temptation doesn't give the stolen creature haste, so unless I have a sac outlet the second stolen one won't do much.

Simic Manipulator is super interesting though, because with Inalla I can stack the trigger so I copy it before evolve resolves and get 2 counters from that 1 card. That seems good.

Thanks for the though and consideration Talonisnthavingit!

Sorry about treasure mage, I probably should've went to bed instead of been searching for magic cards at 3 in the morning, but oh well.

I'm guessing by "Sells" you mean spells, but I rarely play grixis so I can't recommend much. Vandalblast can be pretty good since it can wipe the opponents fields of artifacts, or it's a destroy artifact for one mana, so it's basically cyclonic rifts artifact hating brother. Otherwise I don't have much.

Docent of Perfection  Flip is pretty decent for what it is normally (a 5/4 flier for 5), but I understand that it's not ideal to have a card work with less than 10% of your deck, but it can be pretty powerful if you do get it transformed. As for Dualcaster Mage, you'd probably only copy an opponents spell, but some spells in your deck like fabricate can be pretty good to copy.

Sower of Temptation can work three ways in your deck. With sundial of the infinite, you can hold onto the second sower and the two creatures that go with it (Since you can just skip the end step instead). A second way you can use sower is with sac outlets, which your deck runs 6 or 7 of. You can sacrifice the second creature you gained control of, getting rid of their creature instead of keeping it. This isn't as ideal as keeping it under your control, but it's better then them getting it back. The third way is to use it during a turn where you want to deal major damage. For five mana, you can get two huge blockers out of the way, and keep one after the turn is done. This is a situational type card, so it may not work out for your deck, but I thought it was worth mentioning at least.

Also, have you thought of cards like Flameshadow Conjuring? It's basically Inalla, but an enchantment. Creating three copies of something for the turn is pretty nice, and with sundial of the infinite you can have them for a while. another nice card could be Warstorm Surge, since your copying so many creatures.

I did forget about Flameshadow Conjuring. That reminded me of Minion Reflector, which also does basically the same thing. Probably gonna add them.

I did end up adding Dualcaster Mage, because I'm gonna end up adding more spellss (mostly tutors) soon, and he goes infinite with the Ghostly Flicker I just added. Flicker is good with him and without him because of all the ETB effects in the deck.

I do need to add removal. Pretty sure I have 0 removal other than the Voidmage Prodigy and Counterspell, so Vandalblast seems good. Should probably add some more removal and utility spells like Rakdos Charm, Dreadbore, Terminate, etc. Is there anything you would suggest cutting?

Thanks again for the help Talonisnthavingit

So I play tested your deck a bit through tappedouts thing, and the only problem I found was you either got too much mana, and eventually ran out of cards in hand (without anything to do with it afterwards), or you got mana screwed. This may just be my bad luck, but either way, I'd take out Fellwar Stone and Rakdos Signet. Fellwar because it won't always make the colors you want or need, and rakdos signet because you have very low amounts of red and black cards in your deck (Over 66% of the spells are blue), so it'll do a bit less than the other rocks. As for what else to take out, I don't know. a bit of play testing will only tell.

I'd also like to recommend taking out two mountains and a swamp. If your okay with non-basic lands, Replace those with Command Tower, Path of Ancestry and another island. If you only want basic lands, replace them with islands. With the low amount of red spells, and the amount of blue spells that require two or three blue mana to cast, you should run a few more islands than the other colors.

The truth about the lands is really I just was too lazy to build the manabase at the time. When i start building the deck irl I'll add the shocks/fetches that I own as well as Command Tower Path of Ancestry , some duals, and maybe Mana Confluence.

I can understand that. Usually right after I build a deck, I don't make a detailed description a day or two after lol
