Help with Ghave combo
Commander Deck Help forum

I just threw together a new Ghave deck, Ghave degeneracy. I think my main problem is going to be protecting my main combo of Ghave, Guru of Spores + Ashnod's Altar, in particular keeping the Altar from being exiled. I may also be light on removal.
Any thoughts/help are appreciated.

There are a lot of key pieces that you are missing. I can give a few suggestions from the top of my head that might get you started in the right direction.
Grand Abolisher and similar effects protect you from opponents interrupting your combo. Mindslicer will probably hurt you less than most players.
Enlightened Tutor and Worldly Tutor are affordable tutors in your colors.
Boros Charm can protect you stuff on your combo turn.
Utopia Mycon and Devoted Druid are redundant combo pieces.
Ivy Lane Denizen, Bloodspore Thrinax and Reyhan, Last of the Abzan and token doublers/adders create lot's of crazy interactions.
Concordant Crossroads with Cryptolith Rite or Citanul Hierophants or Life and Limb creates lots of mana.
Fecundity, Skullmulcher and Smothering Abomination are great card draws. (or Greater Good if you have the budget for it.
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord wincon
Spike Feeder and Spike Weaver endless life or fogs.
mikeaus, the unhallowed this card is expensive but is the exact card this deck needs. If your group is turning spikier you can also add Triskelion, Phyrexian Devourer and Necrotic Ooze
There are a million ways to go infinite with Ghave. It's harder to not go infinite.
Some cards that are probably underperforming and you might want to cut for these:
Slice in Twain I'm sure there are better options.
Greed is good. Just ask Gordon Gecko. But you have better card draw options available. Just see above.
Thought Vessel This card is a trap card in all but very specific decks. 7 cards are normally enough to win.
Jar of Eyeballs Really fun and flavorful but lacks in power.
Bow of Nylea oke if you are turning dudes sideways but doesn't help your combos. Filth + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is much more versatile and just makes every one unblockable.
Syphon Mind just draws a lot of hate and doesn't really protect your combo pieces. Targeted discard like Duress would be better.
In Garruk's Wake A non onsided board wipe for a lower CMC would be better. If you can afford it gravepact would be a good 2nd copy of Dictate of Erebos
Debt to the Deathless and Exsanguinate its easier to just win with one of your sac outlet combos and drawing the deck with fecundity.
Diabolic Tutor is not an budget replacement for Demonic Tutor. Maybe one of the tutors I mentioned above or Yisan, the Wanderer Bard or Birthing Pod could replace it.
Wall of Omens and Elvish Visionary one time card draws just are not impactful enough.
mana rocks. Nature's Lore and Rampant Growth are probably better.
Gaea's Blessing you're not really running selfmill or reanimate effects. Unless there is a lot of mill or graveyard hate in your meta.
Young Wolf I might be missing something but don't you want persist creatures? like Kitchen Finks, Puppeteer Clique or Woodfall Primus.
Soul Warden and Essence Warden not impactful enough.
Garruk's Packleader and Drumhunter are to slow don't have enough targets I think.
Solemn Simulacrum can be replaced with Wood Elves. Especially since Murmuring Bosk just got reprinted.
Welp, this turned out a lot longer than I expected. Hope it helps!
