Help with a "creepy crawlies" Commander deck

Commander Deck Help forum

Basically, "creepy crawlies" is all I have going right now as far as deck concepts go. I know I want it to be based around creatures that are generally perceived as being in that category (rats, snakes, spiders, etc.), but I'm not sure how to go about executing this idea.

One thing I feel the deck might want is cards that generate more creatures - Hornet Queen, for example. So, any ideas on where to go with this? Maybe a commander suggestion or two?

You will probably want to be in green and black. Other colors won't have nearly as much. Xira Arien is a legendary insect creature. Nagas (such as Sidisi, Brood Tyrant and gorgons could also fit in your theme. Hornet Nest also fits well. There are actually quite a few cards that fit this theme. I would suggest going with a heavy recursion theme since most of your creatures will be small and easy to kill. Sacrifice outlets and Grave Pact effects would be good.

Pharika, God of Affliction could make a good commander for your theme and makes other creepy crawlies like you want.

Scute Mob

Giant Adephage

Gleancrawler

Snake Pit

Hooded Hydra

Snake Basket

damn it, ninja'd by NecroPony. lol

all I can recommend is more than one Relentless Rats and Thrumming Stone.

also Remyth you mentioned my favorite card ever (not to mention my favorite Legendary). good to see someone else knows Xira Arien exists. lol

Force-Feed them, you Dingus! This is what I am currently working on. Pharika, God of Affliction as commander and aims to win by giving your opponents snakes, which eventually bite them. Quite a political deck and still a work in progress, Hopefully this gives you a different take on creepy crawly ideas :). If not a good card is Worm Harvest Which might be worth building around. And Creakwood Liege
