GateWatch Story deck

Commander Deck Help forum

Hi all!

So I am new to commander, roughly and love the play of it. Definitely opens up a lot more styles and allows for full decks to be played out in longer games.

Because of this and my love for the lore of the game I was thinking about a Gatewatch Deck built around the 5 main Gatewatch in the stoey line.

Liliana Jace Chandra Nissa Gideon

My goal here is to make 5 mini decks, 20 cards each, and combine them into one 100 card playable deck.

Child of alara is my commander for purposes of the color spread.

Heres the rules though: every card must be dedicated in someway to their respective planeswalker. It can be in the title of the card itself, they can be in the artwork or name mentioned in the quote. Bonus points for keeping a mini deck themed. IE jace playing illusion creatures or counter spelling, or liliana raising zombies.

Piecing things together but running short on ideas, hence the post. Any help on specific cards would be grateful. I already have all the easy searches like the 5 oaths, and almost anything with their name in the title.

Thanks for reading looking forward to hearing back.

Oh and this isnt to win, its a fun deck I play with close friends.

So the best I can do without seeing what you have is recommend the mtg wiki pages for them:

https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Gideon_Jura#In-game_references

https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Liliana_Vess#In-game_references

https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Jace_Beleren#In-game_references

https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Chandra_Nalaar#In-game_references

https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Nissa_Revane#In-game_references

On each of these pages is the "in game references" section which contains every card related to that walker.

I really don't know how such a deck will play out but if you want it to function I'd recommend a focus on creature tokens. Most of them if not all of them have at least one version which produces tokens. So this is a mechanical and story way to tie the whole deck together. Good luck!

Oh wow i didn't even know that was a reference. This is great thank you. Its probably gonna be terrible but we all build these kind of decks more for amusement than winning in turn 3 or 4.
