First Commander Deck- Marrow-Gnawer, HELP!!!

Commander Deck Help forum

So I got into Magic a couple weeks ago, and I've built a decent standard deck, but my friends like to play Commander and I don't own enough cards that pair well to build a commander deck so I find myself Buying cards. I want to put together a decent deck using Marrow-Gnawer. I love the process of building decks myself but I don't want my general newness to cause me to spend a pretty penny on a trashy rat deck. So if you could help me in putting together a good Mono-Black Rat deck that will work well and wont empty my bank account that would be greatly appreciated

First off, have you looked at the website EDHrec.com? They offer a huge list of cards you can find, what others build with, etc. It is a great resource.

Now, a decent build could include Relentless Rats, because they are somewhat cheap on the wallet, and you can buy a ton of them and build around your desired general. Same with a sort of tribal build and Shadowborn Apostles.

How are you wanting to build? Are you wanting full on tribal? A more good stuff build where Marrow is a "lets get out of control" type commander? A sac type deck with rats as fodda?

LeaPlath, Well it's for casual play so I want it to be fun. The way I picture it is just having an ungodly amount of rats out, both token and low cost ones. I realize that this means no particular card on my deck would be massive, but the idea is I'll have so many that are disposable I could block big creatures with trample. I guess having some powerful sac cards mixed in could be a fun edition to spice up the deck a little each time, but they wouldn't be the crux of the deck

The more pricey cards can be replaced for cheaper ones, depending on budget.
