CURSE YOU!!!

Commander Deck Help forum

Ok I need some help. I made a curse deck it gets it's engine going on late game. So how do I get this deck doing faster? I want to make this a little bit more competitive but I would also like to try to stay under 200 if possible.

Bribery can work.

Unfortunately your color combo there doesn't afford you much in the ways of ramp... Possibly a minor lifegain (orzhov) subtheme could add some cushion to your gameplan. Or more mass creature destruction.

I noticed the curse theme right away with a sub-theme of Vampires and a pillow-fort type theme hidden among that, that would cause other players to rather not attack you as it would cost them too much or be too annoying to do otherwise.

I have a few more questions before I give any constructive feedback...

First: What is your playgroup like, are you all longtime friends, is it people you play with at an LGS?

Second: What type of decks do they mainly play and what decks do they run.

Third: Also do you notice players running mass creature removal, mass artifact removal, or mass enchantment removal.

Fourth: How popular is the blue control "mommy may I" style in your group?

My playgroup does low power decks ranging from a 5-7. I play against sram, slimefoot, and Vela of the night-clad. And I have a playgroup with a total of four. Me, brother, dad, and our friend so we are a pretty tight group. We sram is the problem because of wrath of god and Overwhelming Splendor. And blue control is not played in our group for commander and won't be in there for a long time if I can help it lol. I also would like to find a way to replace some vampires because they don't do what I want this deck to do. So I was thinking that I could replace some vamps for the upgrades that are suggested for the deck.

Before I read further I would have guessed Sram was a problem. I once smashed face with my Sram deck in a game with 2 Animar decks (pro white included) and Talrand control. I don't have much additional advice for you though... I usually build my decks as a generalist and not as a meta specialist. I can tell you that against my Sram deck (don't know how this one is) targeted removal becomes a waste of hand/library, he's 2 cmc after all and if they're doing it right he'll be loaded with hexproof in no time.

He doesn't get hexproof but turn one sigarda's aid gets NASTY very fast! But he usually has indestructible early game so that doesn't help. All in all I just want some help about whether if I need to add a card to help with my curses, politics in general, or just taking off a card in the deck list that is no help. I started out by doing vampire tribal then I found curses and replaced some vampires with the curses then found some pillow fort stuff.

I would recommend that you also take into consideration your win-condition while making this deck. Playing pillow fort is fun but if all you are doing is stalling the game you are just buying your time until you die. Without a set win condition you can't say for certain you will a game.

After looking through your deck and reading your responses I have already found a bunch of cards to take out and changes that are necessary to make, I would recommend you take some time and think about what you want your win condition to be or how you want to achieve victory in the end.

Ok so I think that maybe tokens would work? Because a lot of my curses are focused on getting rewards for attacking someone so maybe my tokens could help me out with getting more rewards. Did you have a win-con in mind?
