I recently discovered how useful Crucible of Worlds is when I created the deck:

Windgrace, Lord of Dirt

Commander / EDH AkrosTheClear

I am thinking of adding it to my other decks now. I am just wondering when it is worth running it. I have 5 fetch lands in my Edgar Markov deck and I want to know if the value I get off of crucible is worth the slot.

Any input would be much appreciated, Thanks a lot guys

Ultimately it depends on the theme of the deck. I have one deck which has 7 fetches (plus a few self sacrificing lands like Strip Mine) and I absolutely run Crucible of Worlds in that deck. I have another deck however where I run 9 fetches but don't Crucible.

The first deck has a lot more of a land focus and is desigend to recur lands and get value from lands entering play. The second deck is four colour but has a heavy artifact ramp combo theme. So in that deck, playing lots of lands doesn't really mean much.

For a Lord Windgrace deck it would make lots of sense to include both Crucible of Worlds and Ramunap Excavator, however for Edgar Markov, I wouldn't value it as heavily as dedicated ramp.

As long as you are using lands that sac themselves to get you ahead in some way it always has the potential to be worth a slot. It might be even better in Markov since you don't have green's ridiculous ramp. I know my Queen Marchesa deck can have difficulties making land drops sometimes.

Crucible is a niche card! It's very powerful at what it does but not all decks need it. If you are running it just for the seven fetches, then no, it's value is not worth the price tag, or the slot. In a dedicated lands deck, it's an obvious choice. When run in a stax package of Strip Mines and Wastelands, then it's combo potential can be amazing.

The number of people I’ve seen freak out when i have crucible, Strip Mine and Titania, Protector of Argoth is a bit silly.

Especially with some Exploration effect.

Panas is right that not all decks need it because it’s a niche card. If you’re building a “Lands Matter” build for Lord Windgrace, then I’d say yes run the crucible, but keep in mind that Life from the Loam and Ramunap Excavator are ideal alternative choices as well.
