Could you please help me build up my Nekusar Deck?

Commander Deck Help forum

I've been working on this deck for the past year or so now, I've been adding cards just based on word of mouth after matches and tweaking it here and there. But things are starting to turn in the right direction for this deck as I was able to spend a little more money (not a lot, but more than I've been able to in the past) on it this month. What I'm looking for are good cards to put in the deck. I've got a good list of suggestions for cuts and suggestions from my play group but the more heads we get going on this, the better, right? Please go over my deck before just saying whatever card draw or wheel card comes to your mind, I do have a decent amount already. My current budget is meager, but don't hesitate to put high value cards on the list as that will just motivate me to work harder and find a better job so that I can earn the money I need! XD

Thank you for your help!

UPDATE Here's a list of cards I wanted to include:

What I can say is that you could throw in one of the enchantments that go infinite with niv mizzet (I mean if your playgroup allows infinite combos) Ophidian Eye and Curiosity. or Duskmantle Guildmage+Mindcrank I mean they're not that expensive. Otherwise I honestly think it's relatively solid. I like seeing decks like my own that understand that "Budget" doesn't mean under $1000, and that a deck will be upgraded and evolve over time. Some more removal might be prudent, though I do understand that the deck prevents a footing for your opponents . That and I'm not sure what your meta is like, could be a bunch of "spell-slingers" like yourself. Either way, awesome deck. I'm sorry if I wasn't much help, keep up the good work.

If your plan is to win by making people draw and discard then more wheels should always be welcome. The main ones being Time Reversal, Winds of Change, and Molten Psyche. More expensive options are Time Spiral, Wheel of Fortune, and the all powerful Timetwister.

With all the wheel effects, Waste Not should be an autoinclude with all the value it can generate. With all the mana that you can get, Gemstone Array can help fix it for any color.

Other considerations for the deck are Anvil of Bogardan, Liliana's Caress, Bloodchief Ascension and Breathstealer's Crypt.

As for what to take out, Day's Undoing while being a wheel effect really helps your opponents out first unless you have Leyline of Anticipation out. Also, Wheel of Fate may be too slow. Viseling and Servant of Tymaret probably aren't needed. Convolute could be swapped straight with Counterspell.

Overall, i think you have a pretty solid deck though and have fun tormenting your opponents. ;D

Nekusars bread and butter is enchantments. Someone else already mentioned curiosity and ophidian eye, but Helm of the Ghastlord and Elder Mastery are even more devastating. Seeing as you are running mind over matter, both Temple Bell and Otherworld Atlas combo off on it. Lastly... Day's Undoing has an effect which ends the turn... which also exiles nekusars damage triggers off of the stack.

Happy deckbuilding!

Phyresis and Grafted Exoskeleton end games quickly. Mycosynth Lattice help you get the most of the mana you're getting from Waste Not. Copy effects, specifically ones with flashback are great like Geistblast.

The Mad King of Tristram for reference.

MoonTurtle7 Amazing! Thank you for your help and suggestions, infinite combos are the reason I have been working really hard on this deck recently. I have friends who can combo off by turn 3 or 4. I do have a question though: with that infinite combo Curiosity + Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind Wouldn't I just mill myself without a card that I could use to shuffle my hand into my library? Everytime Niv-Mizzet deals damage, I draw a card, and everytime I draw a card, Niv-Mizzet deals 1 damage to target creature or opponent, so it doesn't stop unlike Midnight Guard + Presence of Gond where I would chose how many times I could tap for the 1/1 elf warrior. Is that correct?

Pocketmouse; You're right, Niv-Mizzet isn't optimal because there's more damage to deal out then cards in your library. The saving grace is you don't have to deck yourself with Curiosity since it's a may. I ran it in my deck for awhile, and always found it to be unnecessary. Something like Malfegor helps me more, since Nekusar tends to draw attention to himself.

You probably know these but my little brother's Nekusar deck runs smoothly Temple Bell Howling Mine Chandra Ablaze (her second ability makes 'em draw lotta cards. Skyscribing Spiteful Visions Fevered Visions Black Vise Otherworld Atlas Dictate of Kruphix Dream Fracture Prosperity are just some of the basic cards. If do properly, they'll often have to discard a lotta cards so cards like AEtherize and Crush of Tentacles work really well. Other cards that just go well with this deck include Nightscape Familiar Chandra, the Firebrand Torchling Prognostic Sphinx Cruel Ultimatum Blasphemous Act Dissipation Field

I'm also wondering if Baral's Expertise could be relevant. I'm thinking probably but it depends on the strength of your meta. Expertise into Wheel could be great.

I'd play it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to obtain it.

I would recommend considering Sygg, River Cutthroat, Kederekt Parasite, and Phyrexian Tyranny.
