Hey there all, so currently my only EDH deck is my Marchesa, the Black Rose Theft/Invincibility deck. I was listening to a podcast recently and I think Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer could be pretty fun. I haven't started building them yet, since I'm completely reworking my Marchesa deck first. I also pulled a God-Eternal Kefnet in prerelease that I might want to build around. I've never played a mono-blue EDH deck though, and I'm afraid that it'll be boring being control oriented.

Anyway getting to the point, which of these do you think I should build? Or if you have any other fun suggestions throw them in the comments below! Thanks y'all

Side note: If you'd like a deck page like the one in my Marchesa deck linked above then just throw a comment on my profile, I'd be happy to make one for you!

Kefnet is most often a combo deck, aiming to use Time Warp effects, copy them with kefnet, and try to find Scroll Rack . From there, you can tap it, put an extra turn spell on top, next turn draw it, kefnet cast, tap the rack again, rinse repeat for infinite turns of 4/5 flying beatdown. It is a very cool list IMO.

I'd stick to 2+ colors imo.

If you're used to having multiple colors to cover your bases than monocolor decks can be frustrating to build due to the concessions you make when adding cards. I.e. you wish you had access to better draw, boardwipes, etc. than the cards you're stuck using due to color limitations.

Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer - hear me out: this is fun because if you go the route of throwing clone effects into the deck your games are going to be highly variable (a different experience every time). My opinion of Mono- control is just confirmed above... Find a combo, delay the game with $$ extra turn spells, rinse-&-repeat. This is the same reason I frequently keep coming back to my Etali, Primal Storm deck no matter how long I've had it... It is somewhat powerful but full of wondrous variety.

That is my 2 cents.

I made a Brudiclad deck and let me tell you: it’s not that great. It’s really not a bad build deck and has the potential to tons of fun. I had some nice games with it but like 90% of the time the board gets wiped before you reach the critical mass of tokens you need. It’s now one of my least played decks. Maybe it just doesn’t fit well in my meta or is too much of a fun deck. But adding more counterspells seems highly unfun. Check the list if you want to, tried hard to make it fun and capable of winning but it didn’t do well

Hmm. That is definitely a different experience. Although I think the one I played was more midrange clonish & less tokenish. @ tended to make duplicates of more non-creature targets, & wasn't so much of a critical-mass token pooper as it was a midrange copycat. It tended to care less about boardwipes... However, with a few exceptions you can say the same thing about alot of boardwipe heavy games. You are correct though, if you are angling more for token swarms that type of game isn't always as satisfying.

I like the Brudiclad idea, make a lot of Clues, Gold, and Treasure then find a few good token creature makers for a win con. should make you resilient to boardwipes

One good path for building decks (assuming you don't mind sharing cards or proxying the 2nd copy) is to share as many colors as possible. This makes building new decks a lot less expensive and eventually you have all your colors covered for different strategies and can build just about anything with minimal purchases. I.e. you run Marchesa, so something like Animar, Soul of Elements , Muldrotha, the Gravetide , Queen Marchesa , etc.

My first 3 EDH decks all shared Izzet colors and it made things much easier on my wallet. Narset, Enlightened Master , Marchesa, the Black Rose , and Animar.
