B/W ....angles??

Commander Deck Help forum

So sorry in advanced for the posts all the time as ive said I've returned from a 3 year hiatus from magic and I have a few decks left over from modern and standard from the years before I took a hiatus. I asked black white.... Angles because the other day I just so happened to pick up one of those pre-con orzhov decks and it had some decent removal cards.

I have tried green white angles before I was also seeing a few red white angles... I say angles because I have a hand full of angles that are staples in tribal angles. I also ask this because In modern I tried a home brew "control" deck that was basically Hand removal and spot removals woth an enchantment or two but relied on late game to win with Either Gideon beat down, elspeth suns champion. Or rogue bane slayer.

I also was running the restoration combo ...as combo I mean wall of omen plus restoration angle.

So that concept be applied to EDH?? not hand removal like modern because inquisition and thoughtseize cant be four of's in EDH LOL

So open minded when I ask is it a half way decient "plan" for EDH Core package of great angles Planes walker back package And the huge options for removal. With white enchant support ("pillow fort) But at the same time it seems easy to cross into token territory and i dont want to

Am i making sense ?? If so thoughts and what commander??

Basically long game white black with key angle bombs and walker support/ win cons .

so right angles or acute angles?

but if you mean angels you can build around 4/6 of the cards with a Karlov family member and get a decent black white deck for non competitive commander. Straight angel tribal usually ends up being a deck full of a bunch of cards that happen to be angels and not really effective in using them.

Oh shit ...spelled them wrong... It wouldnt be straight angles but it would have a hand full of them on top of a lot of spot removal and board clearers. And the always good together elspeth's amd gideons.

I was thinking of the white black god. Or do I just make a 100 card tokens deck?

Or remember back in the day wizards came out with an angles ans demons deck.

An angle to consider is Mardu Angels :)

Kaalia of the Vast is a Commander to consider for Angels to cheat them onto the battlefield. Red is for Kaalia, haste for Kaalia and some red Angels such as Aurelia, the Warleader , Gisela, Blade of Goldnight . Planeswalkers and black reanimation can be a back-up plans if Kaalia fails. If you also like Demons then you can combine Angels and Demons if using Kaalia as Commander.

i agree with multimedia I think the best angel commander is Kaalia of the Vast run lots of hast givers and protection such as Lightning Greaves , Swiftfoot Boots ect and the just drop bombs, the angel and dragon that give extra combat phases are good as they allow extra Kallia triggers.

Yeah but shes done alot right?? My other question is her ability is demona dragons and angles right??.. So if you only use her for the good dragons and angles.... What would the black be used for if theres only a few demons

Black can also be for reanimation and tutors. Angel of Despair is a good Orzhov Angel and Rune-Scarred Demon is a good Demon. With Kaalia you play a lot of high CMC creatures because her ability lets you cheat these creatures onto the battlefield. There's however a drawback when playing so many high CMC creatures, it can make your overall deck's mana curve clunky to play, but you'll have this problem with any Angel deck because many Angels have high mana costs. If Kaalia is getting to attack and you're getting to cheat creatures onto the battlefield then you're in a good position. This is however not always the case thus want back-up plans, other ways to take advantage of high CMC creatures without Kaalia. Build your deck in a way that you're not completely relying on Kaalia in a game.

Reanimation can be a back-up plan. Ways to get high CMC creatures out of your hand/library into your graveyard and then onto the battlefield. Or ways to reanimate your dead creatures or even Kaalia since she will be a prime target for opponent's removal. Some options are:

Another back-up plan is ramp especially Signets and Talismans. High CMC creatures have high mana costs which ramp can help with to cast them without needing Kaalia. Low CMC mana rocks (0-2 CMC) also help to ramp into Kaalia which is good. Some options are:

Other back-up plans can be other ways to cheat high CMC creatures onto the battlefield or combo finishers. Some options are:

With Kaalia you want lots of protection and haste enablers because you want to be able to attack with her the turn you play her and you want to be able to protect her so she can do this. Some options are:

Kaalia can provide a lot of value especially if you can successfully cheat a high CMC creature onto the battlefield the turn you play her then you're in a really good position in a game. For instance with Kaalia cheat Aurelia, the Warleader onto the battlefield. Aurelia gives you another combat phase thus another creature can be cheated onto the battlefield with Kaalia because she gets to attack again.

Yeah ive seen her alot as a general I just didnt know which way to take the deck once you got the core of creatures whether is demons angles or dragons into play where to go from there plus how much removal is needed i know. Kt a lot but some Path Swords Fatal push Terminate Dreadbore Etc etc??? Or more?

Include creatures who you can cheat into play with Kaalia or reanimate them as repeatable sources of removal. Some options are:

Some noncreature card removal spells are fine: Swords, Path, Anguished Unmaking and Chaos Warp . These four are versatile instant removal spells worth including. Cataclysm and Armageddon are powerful effects with Kaalia. You don't want a lot of noncreature removal spells instead use the noncreature card spots in your deck for mana rocks, tutors, protection for Kaalia, haste enablers, reanimation/enablers because these spells have interaction with Kaalia or with Angels/Demons/Dragons.

It's hard to say the exact numbers of which type of card but a rough estimate could be:

1 Commander -KTV

35 lands -

8 ramp pieces - 2 cost mana rocks that generate multi colour should form the majority of this. This is with the aim to get KTV out turn 3 or ensure that she is out turn 4 after a protection or haste piece is dropped turn 3 protection. I would recommend the three signets, the three Talismans, Fellwar Stone , Coldsteel Heart . This is key, Swing with kalia a turn earlier makes her harder to deal with.

6 Removal pieces - you are in some of the best colours for removal creatures with removal built in should be in the creatures slot

8 Protection pieces - as multimedia stated, in this case this should include any creatures that offer protection.

27 Creature bombs - this is where the deck can get very pricey generally the ridiculous cards that if dropped turn 4 can be silly are expensive $$ but budget versions can be used to devastating effect. It will be easy to find the expensive ones but the cheeper ones are Reya Dawnbringer Angel of Serenity Angel of Despair Tariel, Reckoner of Souls Archfiend of Depravity ...

9 high synergy cards - Haste enablers should be in here (unless they also offer protections),cards to enclude could be Strionic Resonator , Helm of the Host , Dragon Tempest Fervor Whip of Erebos Unburial Rites ...

6 Draw Liliana's Contract Phyrexian Reclamation Phyrexian Arena are brilliant includes

I have both red white angels. I also have a fair amout of left over angels from my attempts of tribal angels. Also have dragons due to the pre constructed EDH Dragon deck woth UR-dragon so its a matter of finding which ones fit?? And what demons to try and pick up

From there I do have a few rocks I'll have to hunt down those said protection and haste enablers.

The land package sounds like a nightmare The most I have for mardu colors Is the three shocks" dragonskull and isolated chapel and one fetch LOL I dont have any of the filter lands Nor the other shocks .... The rest i assume would be basics?

Are the 20 plus dollar filter lands worth the money for this deck when theres plenty of cheaper multi lands

June 11, 2019 6:40 p.m.

multimedia says... #17

Filter lands ETB untapped and that's what you want the majority of the lands in the manabase to do. Can get all the Filter lands for Mardu for $20...

Fetid is the most expensive at $8. Getting all these for $20 is worth it. However could also get all the $1-$3 lands in my last comment for about $22. That's 14 dual lands compared to four Filter lands for about the same price. Getting 14 lands makes more sense to get first to make sure you have lots of dual lands in the overall manabase.

In fact you could get the entire amount of the lands (20 different ones) that I'm suggesting for about $50. Add the Check lands and Fetch land you already have, 12-15x basic lands and that could be your manabase. That's overall cheap for a playable three color manabase in Commander. Of course It can be improved, but as a starting out playable manabase that's a good price.

You'll also want to include mana rocks (Talismans and Signets) which can help the manabase with color fixing.
