I've been seeing increasingly expensivee EDH decks, IRL and online, mostly due to the power levels set by the starter decks provided by wizards, but I'd love to see more of it like it was when we started out, kitchen tabletop, awkward card choices, cheap and easy for a beginner to take up. I started putting cards with banding into my deck just to make the masses of keywords point to other players.I figure the way to do fic the escalating power level is simple. Block constructed restrictions. I've seen solid, but not overrwhelming commander options from most sets with enough cards to back them in any of the three block sets- Lorwyn block doran, rhys, and nath are sensible, Ravnaca guilds, Conflux Domain, Theros God decks, Innstrad vampires/warewolves/spirits. Solid decks without the silliness that comes with taking cards from the entirety of magic history. Suddenly, the decks are as well the,ed as the commons of that set, the costs mostly reasonable, and the rules simple enough that the format once more becomes something a new player can pick up.Please can we make this a thing?Will post decklist tomorrow.
I personally love this idea, Me and my play group have this thing called "ravnican 60" where its a commander style deck made from cards in RTR block, and we've found it very fun
(the reason why its RTR block btw is thats where we've all started)
also another thing our group does is play "standard through time" where we take any standard environment and verse it against other standards (this initially started with wondering which standard was the most powerful), and so by combining these two ideas we have what your suggesting which i like, so in total ill be suggesting this to my group to have some fun with

also something to mention, you can't make a good 100 card deck from a single block, like it will be ok but you'll find many draws where someone gets the powerhouse card and someone gets all there slot fillers

If your worried about budget, try making commander decks with only commons and uncommons except your commander.

ooh nice. though there's still some hella expensive C/UC cards out there. I can still make an expensive EDH deck out of C's/UC's. xD

I like the idea and have considered it myself. Especially with the most recent block, it is easy to do a wedge deck pulling from khans of tarkir.
