Big Fat Green Wincon

Commander Deck Help forum

My deck Chronic Banana Syndrome basically tries to get infinite mana, get my deck with Tasigur, and then win on the spot. However in order to win there's a number of options for what I can do. In the past I've run Blue Sun's Zenith to deck the table or Gray Merchant of Asphodel (and infinite ETB triggers) for damage, however I have to believe there's a better way to win.

More specifically, if things go really wrong, the deck's awful b-plan is to do beatdown control. In particular, I feel like my wincon should be a green creature with a nasty ETB (that can win on the spot if used infinitely) so I can fetch it with Green Sun's Zenith in non-combo situations.

Something like Terastodon is what I have in mind. Terastodon can't make me win on the spot, however with Cyclonic Rift to blow their board and then preventing myself from decking with Noxious Revival I should win every time still. However, is there anything better to run?

The only thing I'm pretty sure I don't want is Craterhoof Behemoth because money and also I need a lot of unsick creatures to win with that when comboing, which is too risky.

A common win condition for Tasigur, the Golden Fang decks (assuming infinite mana) is to play Reality Shift over and over, first targetting an oppoent's creature, then repeatedly targetting the manifested card. This allows you to exile each opponent's library.

You an use Beast Within or Forbidden Orchard to jumpstart the process if an opponent has no creatures.

The benefit behind this is that both the cards (Reality Shift and Beast Within) act as removal pieces on their own.

All the ones I can think of either require some other card or condition to be instantly lethal when looped.

Woodfall Primus is my personal favorite, but he requires a Grave Pact to set everyone else back to the stone age ensuring your win.

Regal Force would require you to run Labratory Maniac in the deck.

Great Oak Guardian requires at least one unsick creature (tapped or not) that can get through for each opponent.

Ishkanah, Grafwidow can win with infinite ETB and mana provided you have delirium.

Then if you have a way to give all your guys haste there are the token generating guys. I list this one last because the ways to give all your guys haste in Sultai are kinda circuitous.

Ishkanah, Grafwidow lets you outright win given infinite mana. You don't care about the ETB though, just activate the life loss a bunch of times.

Oh true. Didn't even think about the fact that it counts itself :)

I've always liked Wolfbriar Elemental as something to shove infinite mana into, though you'd probably need a haste engine

Walking Ballista is probably the best infinite mana win-con, since it doesn't require colors. I'm betting it's better than Gary.

Rather than work on a good plan B, it's probably best to work on a good plan B-way to get your combo back. :P

If you're in Sultai, you can add the Paradox Engine + Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter combo to have a secondary way to get infinite mana. Otherwise, I'd just run cards like Winds of Rebuke, Regrowth, Riftsweeper, Abrupt Decay, etc to get hate pieces off the table or buy back your win pieces.

I've already got isochron scepter + reversal. Super fun and consistent way to go infinite.

I just realized I'm running Thought Scour already which allows me to win very easily by milling every opponent. And Nihil Spellbomb in between each thought scour should keep even the most persistent graveyard decks from abusing my milling.

Is there any realistic way for Cyclonic Rift to not remove hate pieces? Riftsweeper is interesting, but I don't think quite worth playing. I have Abrupt Decay and Nature's Claim that I could play. Are they worth it? Also what about Stifle?

Eternal witness and friends is plenty of buyback effects from the graveyard.

I need to make this deck a lot more efficient. So many decks play much faster. Especially taxing decks. I don't interact until turn 4 or later usually, and even then it's only a board wipe and maybe a counterspell. That doesn't feel like enough.

Cyclonic Rift will do it, but it's good to have redundancy. And I guess it depends on what playgroup you're with-- Winds of Rebuke is just fantastic for breaking up a combo turn about to happen if they're playing with top-of-deck tutors like the Vampiric Tutor cycle. Bounce the Hermit Druid/ Devoted Druid/ Paradox Engine or whatever and mill the piece they tutored for.

Decay and claim are also meta dependent, but it's just good to have versatile answers and protection--they can either remove a hate piece or remove a combo piece. Decay especially if you're against very competitive groups who go off with counterspell protection, but it's poor against combos that can go off in response (Aluren comes to mind, but it works against Druid and Lab Man and Cephalid Breakfast).

I'm sorry I can't look at your list while commenting, pitfalls of mobile, but some good interactive cards: Swan Song, Arcane Denial, decay and claim, Pact of Negation, Countersquall, Extirpate or surgical or Faerie Macabre.

Some good hate pieces in sultai, if you want to be a controlly combo deck: Deathrite Shaman, Trygon Predator, Toxic Deluge, Pithing Needle, I think some other blue cards are worth a thought like Invoke Prejudice or Stasis to stall while you set up.

Otherwise the best way to make your deck faster is to just include better mana ramp and more tutors, usually :P sorry I can't make specific suggestions rn but i hope it helps!

My 4c aluren deck tries to go off t3/4 while also interacting with faster combos, and it's as competitive as it can be (I think) without spending like $4000 on fast mana and imperial seal, and it's all 3 of your colors plus white. feel free to check it out: do you like FREE STUFF? (2 CMC avg Aluren combo)
