Atraxa or Breya?

Atraxa, Praetors' Voice or Breya, Etherium Shaper?

I can't decide and I'm on a bit of a budget. So Atraxa won't have Doubling Season nor would Breya have Wurmcoil Engine (for now). I do own staples that each would want. Aside from the precon I have about $60 to upgrade either deck.

Atraxa is pure value town, a scary beat stick that proliferates. Due to budget, super friends is not going to happen. Breya offers board control, life gain and access to esper and red artifact combo shenanigans... Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope.

what do you normally have fun playing? what direction do you intend to take atraxa? what about breya? either should be fine for a competitive build if that is something you want to do eventually. breya is in my opinion better for comboing than atraxa, while atraxa is likely better for beating down everyone. if you enjoy giant things eating your enemies id recommend atraxa. if you enjoy being weird and having a crazy artifact deck then breya.

They both have reanimate, control, and beatdown options...

With 4c; the palette to work with is huuuuuge. You can take these decks in so many directions. Heck, you can even use different combinations of partner legends to make up those color combos.

What do you have the most mana-fixing for? If you've retired other decks do you still have those lands? That could be a factor in the decision-making

I debated the same question and in the end I went with Breya, Etherium Shaper partly because I liked the included cards more (Magus of the Will, Armory Automaton and Faerie Artisans look awesome) but also because the reprints gave me a lot of esper artifact stuff just in case I want to go that way later. There's a lot of viable commanders included in Invent Superiority which is awesome since I didn't have them. Another plus is if you are on a budget going artifacts is a cheap route to go, red artifact cards like Goblin Welder are awesome and under 2 dollars.

Personally I'm going creatureless artifact/walkers with breya since she is such a Swiss army knife. She pumps out blockers for protection, can spot remove creatures and is a infinite combo/win con piece all in one.

Well lately I've been on a combo kick. Just transformed my Talrand deck into a Mizzix deck. I have beats in spades in the form of Karlov, Karametra, and Gisa and Geralf. So I do have a variety of lands available for either deck. Always wanted an artifact deck and the possibilities of combos with Breya makes me lean towards her. Atraxa is just nasty but from the videos I've seen is that the deck relies heavily on her proliferate ability whereas Breya is just another piece but offers board control and chump blockers. Like Doubling Season, Mycosynth Lattice will also be out of range for now.

Breya is just combo town. It's my favorite deck of the five. With some budget inclusions, you can make a pure combo deck and every combo will be cheap and fair, just because they won't be so easy to pull off as if certain cards were your commander.
