Another Muldrotha deck

Commander Deck Help forum

I'm trying to figure out why this deck doesn't work.

I'm going for a more value-based build, rather than full agro or combo. I do have combo options, but I'd prefer to use them as a last resort, rather than my go-to. Unfortunately, in my last playtest, I just wasn't able to get off the ground. I need more card draw, and definitely more answers. What should I cut?

I'm an Espers player, looking into your deck and i have one thing to say, Muldrotha, the Gravetide it's not a deck wich looks for an answer but a way to get through...

Destroy what's in front of you and don't waste ur time in disrupting others play in their turns.

If you need to sac your things do it in the way everyone loses with you, those things are going to return in ur side pretty easy... i think you need more boardwipes, and tutoring to create the concistency, Diabolic Tutor , Toxic Deluge , Damnation Black Sun's Zenith , Mystical Tutor , Prime Speaker Vannifar for name some... also, Rampant Growth , Cultivate , Kodama's Reach you need to get your lands ASAP if you don't have to many Rocks/Dorks so take advantage of your "green side"

the more mana the best for Muldrotha, the Gravetide

that's my oppinion! :D

Try to get some more protection to keep your commander on the board and go for some constant self-mill like Hedron Crab . Works really great in my deck, check the list if you want to find some fitting cards for that.

What kind of protection did you have in mind? Thinking of getting a Spellskite

My list plays Lightning Greaves , Curator's Ward , Diplomatic Immunity , Kaya's Ghostform and Bear Umbra .

The first 3 offer good protection, immunity the most since itself has shroud.

Ghostform and bear umbra give you protection from wrath effects or your own Pernicious Deed with bonus abilities. Umbra boosts mana like crazy while ghostform is a combo enabler.

Feel free to take a look at my list if you’re interested

I agree with Pikobyte on the protection options; they are all pretty great. Another option you could consider in the way of protection is Shielding Plax ; I prefer this over Diplomatic Immunity since it has the option of drawing you a card.

Now, as for making the deck faster, I prefer to [along with the more premium ramp spells] run some includes that synergize with Muldrotha, like Font of Fertility and Wayfarer's Bauble . Also, Burnished Hart can be pretty alright, but may be a little slow (Test it). I would cut Primal Growth and run faster ramp too like Rampant Growth , Farseek and Nature's Lore . I don't think this deck needs the extra card advantage from Cultivate either, so don't run that. The deck also can recur mana dorks if they die, so Llanowar Elves are a great card here, along with their functional reprints.

I like to run Seal of Doom as more redundancy for your removal.

I would upgrade the mana base - doesn't have to be anything too fancy, just some Kaladesh fast lands, check lands, and pain lands in place of Temple of the False God , Dimir Aqueduct , Darkwater Catacombs .

I would also consider adding/replacing mana rocks that can sacrifice themselves for benefits. ( Commander's Sphere , Mind Stone , Hedron Archive ). They will let you dig for your combo faster without giving up much of an opportunity cost.

[As for cuts, Phyrexian Delver feels unnecessary, as does Apprentice Necromancer . I would also try to find a balance between all permanent types (maybe even run some planeswalkers) in order to get the most out of Muldrotha.
