This is the Commander-specific advertise-your-deck thread!

Commander format rules

Here are the rules:

  1. You may link one of your decks in each of your posts. Do not list more than one deck per post.
  2. When you post, you must offer feedback on the deck posted immediately before yours (leave the feedback on that deck's page). This feedback needs to be genuine; "Cool deck" replies don't count. Try to be as helpful as possible.
  3. You may not post another deck in this thread again until a week after your previous deck post (by the day, not the exact minute). This is to make sure that other participants have a fair chance of getting some attention.
  4. Do not post unrelated comments in this thread. Leave the deck discussion on the deck pages. Additionally, don't comment just to subscribe to this thread. Use the subscribe button at the bottom of the page.
  5. This thread is stickied and does not expire.

When you share one of your decks, you should offer some information about what you want it to do, what specifically you think you need help with, etc. The more information you give people about your deck, the better the help you're likely to receive.

You're also encouraged to use the deck-large format to make your decks more visible:

[[deck-large:Dominus-Dreamcrusher Edition]]

While you're here, check out these recommendations for other ways to get views on your deck.

If you're feeling up to it, you can also try to write a primer for your deck.

Should have put this in the original post, but I forgot. My Gitrog list generally tries to win by gradually accruing advantage and dropping bigger things faster than my opponents. It works well when not being disrupted, and is pretty resilient to disruption in general. sitting at a table with 3 blue players would be a problem. I'm not looking for any specific advice, but some general suggestions for strategy and the like.

My Comment is here somewhere

This is my second OC deck, so if it's trash that's fine lol

I dunno if Entari0 was just giving advice or doing so and posting a deck later, but oh well.

I'm hoping to proxy and play this deck later today, so any immediate help would be amazing. Thanks

It looks good so far. The general Idea of Magic is you give up consistency for power level. As such, Mono-Coloured decks usually are the least powerful and will struggle finishing games off. You should use every advantage a Mono-Coloured deck can get. Those include the combination of Cabal Coffers + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to get more mana than you'll ever need, and very clearly Jet Medallion over Charcoal Diamond. It's pretty hard to tell why exactly you fail winning, but I'm realising you're not playing Vampiric Tutor, Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Tutor or Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, all of which greatly help finding your silver bullets when you need them. Cards like Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos also give Black decks further reach in regard to removal. A single creature exiled a turn will simply not help you detain an entire table for long. When I play control in EDH, I often feel like even an entire Boardwipe isn't enough for the control deck to stay ahead of things.

Aaand here's mine. I currently run five EDH Decks and I feel Melek is the one that needs the most help.

It features, obviously, Feldon. If you haven't read his backstory you should. He is one of the most flavorful cards ever. Anyway, I love him because you can reanimate creatures, and even multiple of the same ones in the same turn. Or over two turns because If you use it after the end step has started they last over into the next turn. I'd love some feedback and +1s for it

Seeing as how there's been most of a page's worth of deck links with no one commenting on the deck above their post, I'm going to break serve and comment some without posting any of my own decks. The only one I really want feedback on right now is so meta-dependent that it's hard to get useful comments anyway. That said, the deck I decided to respond to is from Holtzman with Momir Vig, Simic Visionary as commander. The only advice s/he asked for was for "better clones" and to that I say: Duplicant.

But I don't want to stop there. You have Dryad Arbor in your deck and a ton of green creatures, so Green Sun's Zenith is good value. Note that GSZ won't trigger Momir, though, but casting it for X=0 to get your Dryad Arbor is a strong turn 1 or 2 play.

Also, you get a ton of value from playing creatures with Momir as your commander. So much in fact that I highly recommend playing mana dorks over sorcery ramp or artifacts for your ramping. Cut Simic Signet, Rampant Growth, Chromatic Lantern - this one is a waste in dual color decks, honestly - and Commander's Sphere, Cultivate, Kodama's Reach.

In their place, add Llanowar Elves and their functional reprints, plus Birds of Paradise, maybe Gyre Sage, Devoted Druid, Wall of Roots, and Cryptolith Rite since you're creature heavy. After these swaps try to find another 2-3 cards to drop in exchange for more mana dorks so that your ramp package is actually larger than it was before, but if you can't at least these changes will lower your curve a bit more and give you more chances to trigger Momir in the long run.

Your deck runs Aluren and has a lot of 2-3 CMC creatures. Add Cloudstone Curio for truly wild Momir hijinks.

Add Man-o'-War so you can 'reset' your clones while triggering Momir yet again.

Go for cheaper counterspells. Try out Swan Song, Arcane Denial, Delay, perhaps even Remand in place of some of your 3 CMC counters. You might even like Dispersal Shield depending on your meta.

zephramtripp - that's a rough meta to live in. What's your budget level for card suggestions? While I wait for an answer to that I'll make general comments.

  • Your deck isn't fast enough at getting to doing its game plan.

I count Gyre Sage, Simic Signet, and Frontier Siege as your only real sources of mana ramp. That's roughly 10 too few if you're playing in a meta that has any fast combo decks. Just because your commander loves to durdle with counters doesn't mean you need everything in your deck to interact with counters in some way. Add more mana dorks, land ramp (e.g. Cultivate), or artifact ramp in proportions that feel right to you. But add a bunch.

  • Your mana curve is a bit high but not awful.

You have a fair amount in the 1-2 CMC range but there's a glut in CMC 3-5 that interacts poorly with issue #1 above. Since you're running 'only' 35 lands you need ways of supplementing missed land with ramp sources. But since you're unlikely to draw into your 3 pieces very often that means a lot of the time you run the risk of being cut off from your large number of mid to high range of CMC cards. Try to shift your mana curve so it looks more like an exponential decay rather than a symmetric mountain - shift it to be heavy on CMC 1-2 and a healthy serving of CMC 3, but anything 4+ should be "gravy" and for cards that have a real impact the moment they hit.

  • Too many cards with no immediate impact, or which rely on having specific synergistic pairs in play, coupled with a lack of ways to tutor up these pairs.

This point may run up against any budgetary restrictions you have but I felt it needed to be made anyway since you can address some of it even without expensive options. Take a card like Inexorable Tide. Amazing for what it does each upkeep step, right? Well... That's assuming first off that it has multiple targets to add a (one) additional counter to. More importantly, you don't see any benefit from this card until you pass your turn and all three opponents have a full turn to deal with it! Let alone they might just ignore it entirely and win outright or blow up the parts of your board state that Tide could improve. Worst of all, it costs 5 mana which means with your lack of ramp it's coming down somewhere between turns 5-8 on the average game. That's exactly when - or after - a tuned Zur combo deck will have won the game. At least Contagion Clasp and engine can benefit you the turn they come into play, assuming you have enough mana.

And tutors. What these will give you is consistency, but that doesn't mean every EDH game will start to play out the same way. It does means that you have more chances to find your important interaction cards in time to respond to your opponents.

Does your meta allow you to play Ambiguity? It's technically not legal by official EDH rules since it's from an Un-set, but house rules trump official rules if people are okay with it.

  • What's your plan to win the game?

This should really be point number one because all your other decisions about adding or dropping cards should flow out of your understanding of what the deck is designed to do. And by "designed to do" I don't just mean "make a lot of +1/+1 counters" -- how will you end up winning the game? You run relatively few creatures given how much of your game plan seems to revolve around being able to win by combat in the end. While you have several difficult to assemble ways to acquire infinite mana that, if Kraj is also present, can become infinite +1/+1 counters, you don't have a clear path toward assembling all three of these at the same time (see point #3).

Try to work out a realistic vision of how the deck will win. "It is theoretically possible to draw these 3-6 cards by turn..." is not a realistic plan unless you have very strong tutoring options and counterspells/other control to ensure the permanents stick. Right now, your entire game plan seems to fold to Swords to Plowshares on Gyre Sage, so what's the backup plan? And when you work that out then think about either what the backup-backup plan is, or how you can really protect at least one of your two plans from being disrupted.

May 31, 2016 7:56 p.m.

Omeros says... #23

IrateWarrior - The difficulty of building a mono-black EDH deck! Everything cool you want is at least CMC 4. Having been there and suffered the "now how do I not fall behind?" feelings myself, here's a few things you try in the deck:

Expedition Map - tutor up your Coffers, Nykthos, or Urborg.

Ancient Tomb - a (usually) better Temple of the False God.

Toxic Deluge - almost always better than Black Sun's Zenith, or run both with your Damnation. It's also in EMA and so may be falling in price.

Diabolic Intent - Demonic Tutor copy 2 with drawback of sac a zombie token or recursive creature.

Consider shaving some enchantments, artifacts, and sorceries to make room for a few more creatures - or cut Rise of the Dark Realms. Unless the other decks in your meta are really creature heavy this isn't as worth the high cost when your own deck is somewhat on the light side.

Dismember and Tragic Slip are a great starting point for instant speed spot removal. Consider adding 1-2 more to supplement your solid sorcery speed removal. Such as: Victim of Night if no one plays those creature types but you, Ghastly Demise if you tend to stack your yard early, or Snuff Out since you'll always have a swamp and what's four life to a Black mage?

Finally, try to reduce the amount of awesome but not essential stuff in CMC 4-9 so that what remains is really the cream of the crop, the zombie a la zomb. For example, no to Behold the Beyond but if you really want a multi-tutor then Diabolic Revelation is your card to replace it. You have a ton of creatures all at 6 CMC; make the painful choice and cut half of them in favor of CMC 1-3 creatures. You might like Doomed Necromancer for one of those slots.

Cool deck. I think you forgot about Burgeoning to complete your ramp package. Adding Yawgmoth's Will can also help you add some more resiliency to the deck.

Have you considered using Insidious Dreams? Most people dislike it because of the drawback but I think it will be perfect for this deck especially with your commander in play.
