A deck fit for a king

Hello hivemind

I am thinking of making a Kenrith, the Returned King EDH deck built around the concept of being king. So far the only cards I have thought to include are Land Tax because the king owns the land obviously, and Smothering Tithe since you can only draw cards if you pay the king’s fee. I don’t want to be the typical group hug or group slug deck, but I want my opponents to see me as a benevolent ruler. Monarch will obviously be a mechanic I want in the deck.

What cards are fantastic flavor cards to add to the royal deck?

Pretty much anything with the Monarch mechanic. Kings have a history of having multiple wives of one does or can’t produce an heir so Queen Marchesa could be fitted into there.

Or just have a whole line of Queens with Oona, Queen of the Fae and Vraska, Golgari Queen just have the deck be Kenrith and his many affairs.

Throne of Empires , Scepter of Empires , Crown of Empires , Throne of the High City ... Actually REALLY ANY card with the MONARCH MECHANIC is an amazing flavorful, fun, and on-point mechanic for Kenrith. I recommend searching for all monarch cards.

Human Peasant type cards, some Knight cards, Queen cards and Castle cards from Throne of Eldraine. Cards that create Food tokens (so the king can eat), some Walls for protection, Joust and Tournament Grounds for the king's entertainment. The Royal Scions because they're royal.

Those are all great suggestions above, but definitely don't forget to add Linden, the Steadfast Queen along with the Scions and also their individual card versions, Will Kenrith and Rowan Kenrith , to have the whole royal family on board for the fun!

I don't know why I didn't think of it before for my last comment, but Blind Obedience would probably fit well, making your opponents bow before their king as their stuff gets tapped and you get to extort them.

Cool idea, I just made a similar set deck with his wife under some planar chaos conditions. Cant wait to see your finished product.
