Hello everyone to what I hope to be a fruitful series of articles. First off I want to give a shout out to fluffybunnypants and Spootyone for inspiring me to begin writing this. Both users have constructed well thought out and entertaining articles in the past and I encourage anyone who hasn't already to read the Showdown series by Spootyone and especially Modern Musings, written by fluffybunnypants. Why Modern Musings? Because what I want to cover is the Modern format and Modern Musings is perhaps the best breakdown of the current metagame I have ever come across.
Now, on to business. What I want to achieved here is neither a Showdown, nor a detailed discussion on the ins and outs of the Modern metagame. For one thing, I do not have time to play games myself, nor could I play games against others on a regular basis and then do a detailed write-up of those games. On the other hand, I could go the route of fluffybunnypants, however that would be pointless as he has already constructed something of a superior quality that I could produce. So, what can I do? Well, I can build decks. Specifically I want to begin a series of Modern articles dedicated to Work-shopping user submitted decks.
Each article I would select a deck that has been submitted in the comments. From there I would deconstruct the deck and offer any advice and suggestions I had for that deck. I would hope, at that point, the readers would discuss the changes I suggested and perhaps offer something I may have overlooked. This isnt to call into question my deck building, but to generate conversation on a complex and diverse format, where it is easy to overlook certain cards.
One of the reasons I wish to do this is because I love deck building. Ill build more decks than I play at any given time. I want to pick the brains of the community to see what other concoctions are out there. I hope you will support this mad endeavour of mine, whilst forgiving my Canadian English.
Rules
1. All decks must be submitted to the comment section of the article I will not look at an deck that ends up on my Profile or in one of my own Decklists.
2. Please indicate you budget. If you do not do so I may suggest extremely expensive cards. One thing that I will not suggest are fetchlands, due to the general consensus on why theyre excellent to run.
3. Please indicate what your meta is like. What is the deck being built for: A tourney? FNM? Casual play with friends? Without knowing what you hope to accomplish I cannot offer the fullest extent of my advice.
4. These are only suggestions and I am only one man. If you disagree, that is your prerogative. I do not wish to engage in petty arguments.
5. Please post your decks in the large deck format. I will not consider decks if they are not posted properly, Example [ [ deck-large:deckname ] ] (remove spaces from the square brackets.

Teach Me Something New Teferi Playtest
Modern
SCORE: 6 | 12 COMMENTS | 174 VIEWSThis is my U/B Control deck that I have recently constructed. I desire to use it semi-competitively and therefore must be able to fend off: Affinity, Twin and Pod. I have no extreme budget constraints.

Countdown to Doomsday: Eldrazi Suspension Playtest
Modern
SCORE: 0 | 0 COMMENTS | 6 VIEWSThis is UR Tron. I came up with this looking at Jhoira of the Ghitu and thinking "what's the most evil things to suspend?". I don't have any actual experience with Modern (I play mostly EDH and Standard). If I were to make this deck, I'd play it casually as I'm not a fan of competitive play. Budget doesn't concern me.

I desire to make it semi-competitive and once i get more money to make it as competitive as possible. I am still working on my sideboard, but i believe i am weak to Robots and Control. I have budget constraints, But im starting to work in the next month so soon that wont be as much of a problem.

The Titan's Fleshbag Playtest
Modern*
SCORE: 12 | 22 COMMENTS | 1895 VIEWSThis is my Five Color Solar Flare deck. It's intended for competitive play so it needs to be more resilient to graveyard hate and be able to deal with Pod, Robots and Tron. There's also a pretty ridiculous rogue Primal Surge ramp deck running around that has been known to do 100+ trampling damage turn 4. There are little to no budget restrictions on this one. Just no goyf unfortunately.

Souls of Mirkwood Playtest
Modern
SCORE: 0 | 0 COMMENTS | 1 VIEWSJust a Junk Midrange deck. I'm trying to get into the format, but I don't really know enough about it yet so I'm trying to learn more and more. Until I know enough to know what I really want to play and build, I don't really have a budget because I won't actually build anything.
All I know for now is that the first deck I want to build, I want to use Lingering Souls . As for meta, I want to play it at FNM level.

@ KingSorin please review rules 2 and 3. Without further information I am less inclined to consider your deck.

Oh sorry. I have no budget issues and play online, so I have no idea what decks i'm up against.

Halleluja, It's a miracle! Playtest
Modern
SCORE: 6 | 8 COMMENTS | 317 VIEWSYou are at least familiar with my build and have gave some input thus far. As far as budget goes I am definitely shelling out on this one because I want it to be truly competitive. That being said however, I'm a highschool sophomore and really don't want to drop 800 dollars that would take me months to get to build this. So I'll set my budget to $550, my only request is to please not suggest fetch lands and any card over 50 dollars a pop. As i previously stated a bit, eventually I do hope to play on a competitive level at PTQ's and the like if at all possible, but I will most likely play this deck the most at an FNM. That being said I want this to be able to go head to head with tier one decks. Thanks in advance, regardless of whether I am the chosen one or not haha.
Ps. Very nice first article, I enjoyed the read I can't wait to see more. As for why I'm not commenting there...I'm already here. Also someone stole my sideboard suggestion of Torpor Orb .
