New Article Series in the making......

Challenges and Articles forum

Thanks to the green light given by Epochalyptik, I want to share my idea with all of you. So I was brainstorming ideas this morning and I believe I have come up with something. users would submit their decks, similar to the way Spootyone runs his showdowns, and I pick the best and I play all of the matchups until I have a champion. One episode would be posted a month

So I want to gather a fan-base and see how many unique decks I will get to work with.

Sorry for the double post, but what formats would be played? Strictly one? Would you start on one format, then slowly open up to more?

I'd be willing to read this type of article.

I've had a large amount of success with getting people to submit Standard Pauper decks in the past. They're relatively easy to build and the games are easy to play.

I also want to know the format. Also this seems interesting but who would you be playing with and how would you go about doing so? Are you proficient with most decks and how do you play certain deck styles? I have always like the idea but in practice I have a lot of concerns regarding how others play decks they are not familiar with. For example I can play all of my friends decks because I build most of their decks but they have no idea how to work the deck as in what hands to keep, when to make plays, what threats to address, ect. How would you go about making sure this isn't a problem?

Sorry everyone, I just woke up lol. The format will probably be standard at first then as it gains more popularity I would conform to the demands of the users

Sorry. Using TappedOut on a phone is an awful idea.

I meant to say you don't have to tag us, as we're already subscribed to the discussion.

I would be interested in reading, and playing, in this. I probably wouldn't post a deck right now, but this definitely sounds fun!

Is this going to be post rotation standard now that the entire set has been spoiled, Standard in its current form, or should we hold off for a few weeks on posting the decks until JOU is released? Also what about my other questions I had. I will copy paste them to this post so you don't have to go up to look for it.

SwiftDeath I know how to use a wide array of decks from white weeny to devotion decks. I will be playing against myself. Similar to the way Showdowns are played. I would only post the article once a month to give myself sufficient time to learn how to use every deck and how to get the most out of it, thanks for the inquiry

ok thanks for letting me know. It does concern me that you will be playing against yourself though. I think that knowing what is in both hands at the same time would be a really big problem in the sense that you would know exactly how to play around spells casting spells at the perfect time and that would make for a boring game. I don't know if it will work but in most showdowns like KrazyCaley's that he did back in the day had him playing against one of his good friends and he was also willing to play with the deck creator on Cockatrice if they wanted to. How would you go about playing against the person on a playtester or skype upon request if you were open to do that?

Playtesters that I know of are Cockatrice, LackeyCCG, and UnTap.in I have profiles on Lackey and UnTap.in.

Playing against yourself poses a few problems. First, that's a ton of games. When I opened up my second Pauper Challenge last year, I received over 100 decks for it. It was a monumental task. Second, I would catch myself making plays I didn't think I normally would've because I knew what was going on in the game. There's no way to fairly play out an entire bracket by yourself.

However, getting people to play each other over the internet is a logistical nightmare and you're have to first worry about everybody getting the same version of Cockatrice, then setting up times for people, having people work it into their individual schedules, having people actually showing up, people actually playing the games well and fairly (and finishing), people reporting back, any disputes, or people just pulling a no-show for the entire tournament once a deck is submitted. I've had a fair number of people submits decks then just delete their profiles a week later.

That being said, while it's not perfect, I think one player handling everything will give the most consistency.
