Note: If this needs to be moved to standard, then by all means, take it away, I just thought that Standard, considering this is a challenge type question, would be the second best place to put it.

Hello!

I've been playing standard pretty consistently for about four years now, and my LGS is now filled with weird, different decks. I would like to join the crowd with a interesting, fun, weird deck to play alongside them. I have a few requirements:

  • Must be standard legal
  • Must be at least semi-competitive (able to win at least 1 game out of 10)
  • Must be a homebrew (can't go copy it off someone else's website)

That's all! Have fun deckbuilding!

I like this. It is relatively competetuve, and very fun to play. Sultai delve is by no means Tier 1 either. :p

Before I decided to abandon playing Standard to focus on EDH, I was working on an Abzan reanimation build that used Endless Obedience, Whip of Erebos, and most importantly, Rescue from the Underworld to bring back and trigger big creatures with strong ETB abilities. See Ashen Rider, Hornet Queen, and Siege Rhino. The rest of the build was filled with ramp and graveyard-filling spells. I didn't have the time to devote to testing, but you're more than welcome to take ideas from

Sweet builds, guys! I have around 2 weeks to test, because my LGS is closed on friday, so I'll spend some time testing/tweaking both of your builds... At the end of two weeks, I'll pick one and play it!

Any other ideas for fun standard decks?

I run a sultai Empty the Pits deck. the sideboard needs work but it is pretty fun and can win against some decks, actually 1-2ed versus green-less ascendancy combo and only lost due to bad draws.

Or you can check out my profile for a few other janky homebrews. Glad to see another person who embraces the path less travelled!

I had an idea like the Abzan Reanimation, but with constellation added with Eidolon of Blossoms for card advantage and Skybind to keep flicker for ETB effects and to keep the whipped creatures in play. Pharika, God of Affliction can help trigger skybind at instant speed as does Boon Satyr. Doomwake Giant is also great with repeated constellation triggers. Banishing Light and Suspension Field for removal that triggers it too.

Both decks are very complex and require you to map out your plays well in advance, so a thorough knowledge of the ins and outs are a prereq to piloting the decks, but considering the budget style its not too hard to put together and you can switch between the two as both decks share a lot of the same cards.
