Gods of Theros: Challenge!

Challenges and Articles forum

Posted on May 17, 2014, 6:16 a.m. by 241543903

Hi guys! I am presenting you yet another challenge with immortal beings from plane of Theros. Rules are simple:1. To join this challenge, submit in this thread an EDH legal deck with one of the fifteen Gods as a commander.2. Try to not submit decks with the same god as an other deck. 2 Purphuros decks are fine, but 8 decks with the same god are not cool.3. You can submit up to two decks.4. When the 8 decks will be submitted, I will start typing match-ups. However, people will be still able to submit their decks until all matchups of round one will be made.5. Sideboard will not be used, however if you must to have one (for example Burning Wish ), you can have up to 5 cards in there.6. Have fun!

241543903 I just realized I never explained anything about how to operate my deck. (Not that it's a brain teaser or anything.)

USUALLY I will go for Primal Surge or Enter the Infinite off of Planar Portal or Ring of Three Wishes . Once I get those I cast them and end up putting 99% of my library in play.

Then I have two haste sources for my field to swing or a Helix Pinnacle for the luls.

Infinite combos to note: Palinchron + any mana doubler such as Heartbeat of Spring , Wirewood Channeler /any dork that taps for X>3 + Umbral Mantle /Sword of the Paruns , etc.

Mine has no real theme. I basically just looked for every card that could reanimate and put it in the deck. If a creature isn't on the field, it should be.

Dekordius says... #36

Since we are all posting instructions for playing our decks and I don't know how familiar you are with decks like mine, I'll say this: Don't counter everything, just the stuff that can directly cause problems (IE not equipment without Living Weapon). Use red spells and Keranos to get rid of uncounterables and the like, otherwise keep pinging the face until death. Don't tap out on your turn unless you can both bounce and counter the next turn. That's about it.

Not that it changes the outcome but two nitpicks. Sepulchral Primordial can't hit your own graveyard and Phyrexian Obliterator was exiled earlier.

Nice deck MisterRoach you had me legitimately scared.

241543903 says... #43

@Ohthenoises: While I have to agree with Primordial, the Obliterator was exiled by Necropotence and it was before reanimating destroyed by Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre . While it was in Tithe favor and yet he still lost, I am in doubt if that would change something. However, if MisterRoach really wants a redo, I will do it as fast as possible.

T5: He plays Urborg and Erebos, then he pays 1 life for Necropotence (T36-0/C40-0), exiling Phyrexian Obliterator .

T6: Plays Swamp and Phyrexian Obliterator

C6: Draws Wirewood Channeler . He taps all lands and Priest for Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre , and targets Phyrexian Obliterator

Might have been a typo but you said "exiling Phyrexian Obliterator "

241543903 says... #45

Not a typo, just a "mental shortcut" for showing what he "draw" with Necropotence . It was put into hand like other cards exiled by it. Sorry for misunderstanding.

MisterRoach says... #46

Kinda played out how I thought it would. Your deck had me scared as well as I play a kruphix deck of my own. Lol

Ohthenoises says... #47

MisterRoach Believe it or not the Omnath, Locus of Mana version: Rollover Minutes, is faster, I just like the god because I have to devote less slots to keeping him alive.

June 28, 2014 11:56 a.m.

MisterRoach says... #48

One of my group plays ornate and it gets crazy pretty damned fast.

June 28, 2014 4:22 p.m.

MisterRoach says... #49

Although I think it would be awesome to have a face to face match with you with these decks in our own hands and see how that works out.

Because MisterRoach seems to be OK with that mistake, I've made the last match-up of Round 1. Enjoy!
