Has anyone else noticed that the main character in pretty much every Marvel/DC/Disney/lots of movies would fit into the Boros part of the color pie?

I mean, white is typically seen as the colour for order and balance and red is combat/fighty. And since most comic books are based around around the hero, it would make sense that there was an aspect of boros in them. But I think that you're making a bit of a generalisation here, there are a hell of a lot of characters that don't fit into the boros mantra.

Are they really Boros?

Let's take the MCU:

Though Tony Stark is a hero, his fundamental character traits are selfishness , impulsivity , and a desire to create without thinking of the consequences .

Captain America is defined by his strict adherence to his own personal moral code , lacking the impulsivity and emotional component of .

Hulk is an angry force of nature ; while Bruce Banner is a talented scientist who, unlike Tony, is tempered by a sense of morality .

Black Widow relies on her wits and herself to get her out of tricky situations .

Ant-Man is a good guy, but he does not really have the strong moral code that is inherent in .

Doctor Strange is a strict devotee of logic and a moralistic absolutism putting existence as a whole above individuals, including himself .

Thor is the first Marvel character that is arguably strictly Boros - he is driven by his feelings and , but channels those feelings into his desire to fight for the good of the Nine Realms .

If trying to boil things down to a 2-color foundation, then...

  1. As above, Thor . Even Mjolnir itself is a symbol of building, growth of civilization, human solidarity: - Then on the flipside: destruction, wrath: .

  2. Probably Shazam is . For many similar reasons as Thor. Also, a childlike temperament, even a mature child, is usually going to follow heart & instinct more than adults who are more concrete (knowledge) & less plastic.

  3. can be any character known to overthrow a stale order to establish a new order & does this without self-benefit in mind. I'm not sure who that is describing, but I'm sure there are some characters who do this... Maybe Bane? (if his motivation truly does not involve becoming a tyrant after the he overthrows the yolk of civilization as it is).. Maybe Ra's Al Ghul, though I think he has been accused by Batman of having self-motivation with the Lazarus pits & whatnot. Hard for me to say since I'm not a Batman guy.

I'm bored so I'm going to go through all of the Batman characters I can think of. I watched the whole Gotham series back to back, so that's a lot. I'll say this - I will interpret the colors as such to make it easier- White - Morality Blue - Logic Black - Evil Red - Impulse Green - Innocence

The Joker - Gruul. He doesn't do what he does because he's evil, it's just his nature, and he's very, very impulsive.

The Penguin - Naya. Judging moreso, again, from his appearance in Gotham, he was kind of a klutz. He didn't really hate people, he just wanted to better the status of himself and his family because they were poor. He was very childlike - similar to the Joker - but also had strong elements of human goodness in certain moments. He always acted on what he felt was just.

Poison Ivy - Grixis. Ironic, no Green, I know. This is because she knew full well that she was killing people - and enjoyed it. She was also quite cold and calculated, but could also lose her temper at times.

Catwoman - Bant. She was quite intelligent and reasonable, and wanted what was best for people. However, she wasn't very well versed in social constructs, being an orphan didn't help, and struggled to compromise and "act normal", instead relying on what she felt was right.

Batman - Naya. Almost Boros, but he was just too, well, inexperienced. Having his parents murdered in front of him was such a pivotal moment in his life that he was never able to progress or change after that point, and remained childlike in many ways (thinking he was a lot stronger and smarter than he was).

Alfred (Batman's Butler) - Azorius. Ok, Alfred trained Bruce Wayne (Batman) to be who he was, plus I loved his rendition personally, so here he is. Very logical and practical, not impulsive, and very just. Generally someone you want to have around.

Ra's Al Ghul - Dimir. He wanted to watch the world burn, and he knew how to do it.

Bane - Mardu. He was all impulse, but was never certain as to whether what he was doing was actually good or bad - he just did it. He was told by the society to kill others, and he knew that it may be for a good reason, but he also knew it may not.

Thanks for reading.

Crap, I forgot Mr. Freeze, the Scarecrow, Deathstroke AND the Riddler. Most of you can probably guess however what I would say about them.

Quite a bit of variety among colors, so no, they're not all Boros, but there are still some tropes.

Reznorboy, I must respectfully disagree with you about several of those characters.

The Joker is not remotely green; he is the near-epitome of black/red.

Poison Ivy is definitely black/green or at least mono-green.

Catwoman is definitely not white; I consider her to be black/blue or even mono-blue.

I cannot see much red in Batman; I consider him to be black/white/blue.

As a side note, Mark Rosewater once said that Spiderman was white/green, but that is clearly not the case. I do not wish to contradict Rosewater, but Spiderman is definitely blue/red, and not simply because his costume has those colors.

Catwoman may be mono . Intelligence does not preclude . She is basically Robber of the Rich. A Robinhoodesque character that wears her heart on her sleeve & will often show a sudden change of heart, pretty impulsive
