Rules questions should be asked in the Q&A, which is linked in the header bar. I can't move this to the Q&A, so I'm moving it to BE.

You can only sacrifice permanents you control. A permanent is a card or token on the battlefield. Furthermore, unless otherwise specified, abilities of permanent cards function only while those cards are permanents. You can't activate a permanent card's abilities from another zone unless the ability specifies that you may do so.

Rules questions should go in "MTG Q&A" in the top banner. Epochalyptik will likely be along shortly.

Unless otherwise specified, you can only use activated abilities on cards when the card is in play as a permanent. Special exceptions include things like "Bloodrush" (Ghor-Clan Rampager ), but these will give some indication that they are a special case by mentioning the card being in your hand.

Sacrificing is something that can only happen while the card in question is in play. If it could be sent from your hand to your grave, it would be replaced with the word "Discard".

First, rules questions should be asked in the Q&A. You can find it on the top bar.

Summoning Epochalyptik for transference to the BE.

Anyway, to answer your question. Activated abilities of permanents can only be activated when the permanent is on the battlefield. Unless a card states otherwise it cannot be activated from your hand. Sacrificing a card means that it is put into the graveyard from play and regeneration does not save it.

TL;DR- Satyr Hedonist has to be in play to activate it's ability.
