mould in fridge?

OK, ive been too occupied with life and magic (yey, magic related!) and now i notice a tomato covered in mould in the back of my fridge. Completely covered and with "trees" growing on it. I panicked and threw it away but i should have taken a photo for science. Alien stuff was growing on that thing.. My question is, should i do anything to my fridge? The "thing" has been there for over a month.. Lurking.. Growing.. Well, what to do?

I mean, if it's sincerely a concern you can take everything out of the fridge, throw away anything that wasn't covered or sealed, and scrub down the whole insides with bleach.

Was the tomato contained in a bag or anything, or just sitting on a shelf?

Not bleach, half parts viniger and water. Bleach will just make the spores jump, and make your food taste funny... Sounds weird but its better for you.

ducttapedeckbox it was a half of a tomato, in the back of the fridge covered in nothing..

I would not use bleach in my fridge..

Im gonna take it all out and clean it out tomorrow.. can you use stuff like mr. muscle (i think that shit is international)? What chemical spray stuff can you use in a fridge? What should i look out for?

If you're concerned, I'd go with DevoidMage's suggestion of chucking anything that wasn't covered or sealed. Remove everything in general, and wash the inside down with something that's not poisonous. Mj3913's suggestion of vinegar and water is good.

Mix lemon juice, vinegar and water. Scrub the fridge out and throw away all uncovered items. For future reference, be sure to cover anything that you put in the fridge, especially fruit and vegetables.

cleanse your fridge with fire.

Burn your refrigerator.

Shit make an event of it and revel around a flaming fridge. Xenagos will be pleased.

Too many replies, i only read the last 2 responses... So, how would you recommend me burning my fridge? Straight up fire inferno party as usual, or more casual contained fire?

Don't forget the lemon, you could easily miss that one as well.

Candid camera...

I'm thinking fill it up with lighter fluid, bring it to a party, light it on fire, then drop dry ice in it for an interesting effect.

Derp, why is your solution to always burn things?

enpc says... #15

Exactly. Why burn it when you can BLOW IT UP? Much more fun.

because I'm a dangerous sociopath with a long history of violence?

I Don't understand how you keep forgetting that.

Fire might not be enough. Try duct tape and wd40. That usually works for everything that a good fire can't fix.

Scratch that, to kill the Mold Demon, you just need a big enough Fireball.

Mr muscle. Don't use vinegar and water or anything else - it's probably not harsh enough to kill mould spores or even many germs. We have modern disinfectant because we found that mould spores can survive pretty much everything so products like Mr muscle are designed to kill the stuff that vinegar doesn't.

It goes without saying that you should wipe it up thoroughly to make sure no residue is left.

You should quickly wipe your fridge down with a decent cleaning product like every 3 months or so. Just quickly take everything out, wipe it with product, dry it, replace everything. Takes like under 15 minutes usually.
