Hornet Nest and Setessan Tactics???

Asked by Cookieboy1221 9 years ago

Hi Guys, Just a quicky...Hornet Nest with Indestructibility on the battlefield. I have 5 other creatures on the battlefield. Can I use Setessan Tactics to make all 5 of my creatures fight my Hornet Nest . Is that legal?

First off, this is a MTG Q&A, and should be placed in the thread linked in the top of the header bar. Epochalyptik will be along shortly to move it to BE.

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssss. There is no reason you cannot fight your own creatures. As long as Hornet Nest doesn't have shroud, there's no reason you can't target them with all the fight triggers and produce a bunch of tokens.

Yeah thanks, my bad. I haven't asked a question on here for a long time and forgot where it went : / Thanks for your confirmation anyway. I cannot wait to use this until Khans comes out :D

Technically, I actually misspoke. You can target it with the fight targets, not the fight triggers. I don't know what I was thinking. Just a wording clarification.

I'm planning on trying a deck with this in it... though I'll be using Gift of Immortality instead. - I know I can't use a large number of fights, as it will die... then come back... then if it dies again, it's gone. (Though I can let it die once, let it come back... let the Gift come back at EOT... then let it die again and get it back.... Gift comes back at end of following turn.) - Reason for Gift of Immortality is that it has other good targets in the deck.

  • Don't forget when doing this, that you can get an extra fight by also targeting the Hornet Nest with the Setessan Tactics and fighting an additional time... perhaps your opponent has a bigger creature for more tokens.
