Its that time again, The shadow Theory by Kamelot was released today! It has surpassed my expectations, while Tommy karevick isnt my all time favorite singer he is high on my list, my favorite singer is he with the voice of god Roy Kahn. Who is your favorite singer?

Brendon Urie. Greatest voice in ages in my opinion.

For female vocalists I have to say Florence Welch has the best voice.

As with most questions regarding "favourites" the criteria used can wildly shift the answer. I think it is probably best to use three different metrics--best female based exclusively on the sound, best male singing voice based exclusively on the sound, and best overall entertainer.

  • For raw singing talent from a female singer, I would go with Ella Fitzgerald. Her voice is rich and complex, with a perfectly timeless sound.

  • For raw singing talent from a male singer, it has to be Freddy Mercury. His vocal range and the sounds he can make seem almost superhuman--which, as it turns out, they are. A team of biophysicists did a study on Freddy Mercury's singing voice, and found that his vibrato (rapid variations in pitch frequently employed by opera singers to produce a more complex tone) was extraordinarily high--eclipsing that of classically trained opera singers.

  • For best overall performer, I would have to go with the Entertainer himself--Billy Joel. At the age of 68, his singing voice is just as good as it has ever been. His adaptability is incredible--Piano Man, The Longest Time, Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel), Moving Out--so many fantastic songs spread across so many eclectic musical styles. His writing, which he does himself, is unparalleled. His skill at the rock and roll piano is rivaled only by Sir Elton John. At live performances, he is incredibly witty, usually at his own expense.
